Scotland face the Springboks at Murrayfield on Sunday.

Gregor Townsend's Scotland are riding the wave of a huge 57-17 hammering of Fiji last weekend, thanks to tries from Kyle Rowe, Huw Jones (two), Duhan van der Merwe and four from Darcy Graham.

The 'Boks have not played since September 28, where they defeated Argentina 48-7 in the Rugby Championship, a competition which they won.

The last time South Africa and Scotland played each other was during the pool stages of the World Cup last year, with the Springboks winning 18-3.

What has been said?

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend: "There will be a focus on what we need to get right next week because of the opposition as well.

“I think we’ll have to be on it every action, every minute against South Africa because they're the best team in the world, world champions, however we want to describe them.

“They’ve got multiple threats throughout the team. “It’ll be an open game, we believe. Our defence will have to be really on point, not just for their physicality that’s coming but also their threats when they move the ball wide.”

South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus: "This is a seasoned and quality team and adding to that 21 of the 23 players have won a Rugby World Cup title, with some having won two, so they know what it takes to perform at this level.

“Many of these combinations have also played together this season either during the Castle Lager Incoming Series and Rugby Championship, or both, which will be valuable against a quality team such as Scotland.

“We are expecting an extremely physical match, so we opted for a seven-one split of forwards on the bench, and this was aided by the fact that we have such versatile players in the backline, who can cover different positions if necessary.”
