Home values are up across the U.S., according to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The value of owner-occupied homes rose by 21.7% for survey data collected between 2019 and 2023 as compared to data collected from 2014 to 2018, according to a release from the bureau. The nationwide rise accounts for inflation. The data released Thursday are American Community Survey five-year estimates calculated using a pool of data between 2019 and 2023. The five-year estimates, unlike the annual data released by the bureau which covers larger populations, cover all population sizes in smaller geographic areas. The estimates also show a decline in the median share of income homeowners pay toward housing costs, according to the release. The median for data collected between 2014 and 2018 was 18.3% and shrank to 17.5% in this year’s estimates. Owner-occupied housing units increased by 8.4% from the prior survey period from 2014 to 2018, according to the release.Almost all counties saw some increase in median home value. Both sets of data are adjusted for inflation for the final year of the time period.Out of 3,144 counties in the U.S., just over 15% had a median home value for owned units larger than the $303,400 nationwide median.View the map below to see the median value for owner-occupied homes for the estimates calculated between 2019 and 2023.PHNjcmlwdCB0eXBlPSJ0ZXh0L2phdmFzY3JpcHQiPiFmdW5jdGlvbigpeyJ1c2Ugc3RyaWN0Ijt3aW5kb3cuYWRkRXZlbnRMaXN0ZW5lcigibWVzc2FnZSIsKGZ1bmN0aW9uKGUpe2lmKHZvaWQgMCE9PWUuZGF0YVsiZGF0YXdyYXBwZXItaGVpZ2h0Il0pe3ZhciB0PWRvY3VtZW50LnF1ZXJ5U2VsZWN0b3JBbGwoImlmcmFtZSIpO2Zvcih2YXIgYSBpbiBlLmRhdGFbImRhdGF3cmFwcGVyLWhlaWdodCJdKWZvcih2YXIgcj0wO3I8dC5sZW5ndGg7cisrKXtpZih0W3JdLmNvbnRlbnRXaW5kb3c9PT1lLnNvdXJjZSl0W3JdLnN0eWxlLmhlaWdodD1lLmRhdGFbImRhdGF3cmFwcGVyLWhlaWdodCJdW2FdKyJweCJ9fX0pKX0oKTs8L3NjcmlwdD4=
