October 18th Hurricane of 1916
A second hurricane struck the region during the 1916 Atlantic Hurricane Season, as denoted in the NOAA AOML re-analysis tracking chart below. In the morning hours of the October 18th in 1916, a Category 2 hurricane made landfall in Pensacola, FL. The center of this hurricane passed almost directly over Pensacola around 10:30 am, according to the Monthly Weather Review and re-analysis data. The anemometer in Pensacola failed as the hurricane made landfall that morning.
