P1412 Polish language

[edit]

Hi,

You've added a large batch with this property. As a native Polish language speaker I can say that although 99% it is right to infer the Polish language ability from country of citizenship or nationality there are some caveats. You can assume that people born after 1945 with Poland as country of citizenship speak/write etc. Polish. Before that date, because of Poland's turbulent history and ethnic complexity it can be tricky. For example Jewish community was closed and not assimilated so it might be that they didn't speak Polish. Polish nobility often spoke French, Latin, German and not Polish. So it wouldn't be safe to assume Polish language competency in these edge cases.

Cheers,
