GSSO ID
[edit]Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Authority control
Motivation
[edit]The Gender, Sex, and Sexual Orientation (GSSO) ontology was created to provide a reliable resource, focused mostly on LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual/aromantic, and other umbrella gender and sexual minorities), to facilitate communication between LGBTQIA+ persons and health professionals. Since then, it has evolved into an inter- and transdisciplinary vocabulary, being utilized in archival work, natural language processing applications, and in providing materials for professionals and non-professionals alike, including non-LGBTQIA+ persons. In addition to the GSSO website, the ontology is available at the NCBO BioPortal and on GitHub. The GSSO is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license. Having a property in Wikidata for identifers for this ontology will provide an important link for gender, sex, and sexual orientation topics. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 20:30, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose proposed format. "\d{6}" seems sufficient. --- Jura 05:17, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1: you oppose the property, or just the way the identifier is formed? It could be formatted as http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/GSSO_$1 but I went with the full identifier that is used in the source. It doesn't really matter which one is chosen, but that doesn't seem to be a reason to oppose creating this property. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 19:01, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- Please re-read my comment. I don't see why the label should be repeated in the value. --- Jura 19:03, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, I read your comment incorrectly. I see now you are just opposing the value for the identifier. I have changed the format. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 19:09, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
