Introduction

WGMU Radio Station is located on the Fairfax campus of Virginia's George Mason University. Offices are in Thompson Hall, Room 214 and studios are located, on the ground floor, in the George W. Johnson Center. WGMU has a history dating back to the 1980s and had an AM signal at one point. It now broadcasts live 24/7 on www.wgmuradio.com

Amongst its roles at the college, WGMU functions as the home station for the Final Four team the George Mason Patriots, who achieved international fame in 2005-2006 season. The station broadcasts every home game for the womens' teams with broadcasts beginning 30 minutes before tip-off with Pride of the Patriots, featuring pre-game comments from Head Coach Debbie Taneyhill.

WGMU is also home to a wide variety of musical shows. In 2006, WGMU aired live call-ins with such artists such as Thomas Dolby, Necro (rapper), New Riders of the Purple Sage's Ronnie Penque, Giddle Partridge, and Deep Red. In 2007, WGMU invited Virginia-based artists and bands such as Dermaptera, guitarist Phil Venable (The Venables, Crankcase), ukelele player/singer Mike Ratel, guitarist Wes Howard, and Sansyou up for on air concerts.

WGMU Today

The station features a wide range of programing. One of their newest and most popular show's is called "Your Talk" which airs Monday's starting at 9:15AM on their website live, then it is podcasted afterwords. It is Co-Hosted and Produced by Alexander Romano. The other Co-Host is Prof. Rodger Smith.

Currently, WGMU radio is lead by Program Director, Allison Bodsford and their faculty adviser is Professor Rodger Smith.
