As Saghar-e-Wafa (Rafi Jatt) informed:-

Haroonabad Tehsil is an administrative subdivision (tehsil) of Bahawalnagar District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The city of Haroonabad is the headquarters of the tehsil which is administratively subdivided into 22 Union Councils.[1]

Haroonabad is located on the edge of the Cholistan desert in southern Punjab province, close to the Indian border. In 1998 the population was 63,000 (Population Census Organization, 2001). The arid climate, with an annual average rainfall of 160 mm, potential evaporation of 2500 mm, and temperatures ranging from 0°C in January to 48°C in July.
Punjabi is the language of the city, and is the most widely spoken language in the whole district, although Urdu and English are also becoming popular with younger generations.
It is located in the south of Bahawalnagar on a distance of 50 KM. The population of the city is around 100,000. Haroonabad was established in 1920's and was named after one of the sons of Nawab of Bahawalpur, as it was a new town in the State of Bahawalpur.
The irrigation canal that irrigates much of the land around Haroonabad, is called 4R. This canal was built by the British government in the early 1920s. Most of the people are farmers owning small pieces of land. Literacy rate is very low. The weather of the city is very hot during summer and a bit relaxing during winter.
Haroonabad is famous for its cotton quality. This area is also part of Cholistan desert but most of the area is irrigated. This city is situated in east of Pakistan. In its east, there is the border of India, in its west Chishtian (a well known progressing city) is located. and Bahawalnagar lies in its north side, & it is being bounded by Fortabbas in its south.
Road Transport The city has a typical type of roads. One can have many ways or routes to move to some other city from Haroonabad. There are many transport companies operating in the city linking it with all surrounding as well as all major cities like Lahor, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Karachi. There is a railway track in this city which connect it to some other major cities of Pakistan. But now a days it is of no use.
Although literacy rate is low herem but still the students of this city get positions in Board of intermediate and secondary education Bahawalpur.
Almost all scheduled casts are found here.Jutt, Malik,Araeen,Laleykaz and many more.It has produced many big political entities.
People here do prefer Road Transport services. Presently there is no airport in Haroonabad.
