Lewis Street and Rectory Road have the oldest housing of the village. The most recently built houses within Swffryd is Kier Hardie Terrace. Made up of mostly social housing the area is well known in the locality as a hotspot for antisocial behaviour. However there are breathtaking views of the surrounding area which is due to the stark contrast in elevation of Swffryd in comparison to its neighbouring communities.

'''Administrative Geography'''

It is quite difficult to obtain statistics that are specific to Swffryd as it has quite an ambiguous administrative geography. On the map to the right you can see the location of Swffryd in relation to it's unitary authority and political ward, which is Blaenau Gwent. In terms of its local government authority data, Swffryd would be included within the statistics of Llanhileth and Swffryd area, Blaenau Gwent. There are 3 rows of houses at the very bottom of the photograph, then within several yards (towards the middle of the photograph) you arrive atSwffryd Blaenau Gwent

<nowiki/>There is no mention of a place called Swffryd in it's actual address - Royal Mail, Post Office, Google Maps and even it's own unitary authority does not give an indication that there is such a place that exists and is always refered to as 'Crumlin, Newport. NP11 5..'.. Possibly the reason why it is relatively unknown, despite the relatively well known valleys community of Crumlin and the ''<nowiki/>'Crumlin'' Viaduct

The remains of the [[Crumlin Viaduct]] can still be seen just off Lewis Street at the top of the embankment and can be seen in full view from various neighbouring communities such as [[Crumlin, Caerphilly|Crumlin]]
