FA at risk
Hi Arjun, I was just going through the list of featured articles (Economy of India is one of them) and I'm concerned that if the article gets re-reviewed, I'm pretty sure it's going to get axed from the list. For one, users like this go around various articles and copy-paste the most POV-loaded and poorly written paragraphs into the article. Then there's the matter of having a section like Issues. I'm currently working on integrated the "Issues" into their respective sections because having a section like Issues seems completely unencylopedic and really an opportunity for people to cherrypick certian facts and then just clump them into one section without taking into account the greater context of the situation. Vedant (talk) 19:36, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- The "Issues" section seem to be bit bulky; and moreover it's got some generic topics to deal with (Corruption, Govt, Labor laws ...), that don't well fit into other sections. what say? Arjuncodename024 12:19, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree the issues need to be mentioned but I'm generally opposed to block quotes (as they seem indicative of WP:POVPUSH). I think atleast the following can be done:
- Issues/Agriculture -> Sectors/Agriculture
- Economic Disparities -> Income/Consumption
- Labour Laws -> Employment
- Issues/Corruption and Issues/Government -> New section titled Government Involvement
- Issues/Infrastructure -> A new section titled Infrastructure
- I agree the issues need to be mentioned but I'm generally opposed to block quotes (as they seem indicative of WP:POVPUSH). I think atleast the following can be done:
- This would atleast cut down the issues section which is a bad idea to keep in a featured article. I'm not saying we don't talk about the issue (they're important after all). What I am suggesting though is that we deal with them in their respective sections and present a complete depiction (and not just a one-sided one). Let me know what you think. Thanks, Vedant (talk) 16:13, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
DYK problem
Hello! Your submission of Prayopavesa at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! LittleMountain5 20:52, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Operation Bluestar
Hi fellow editor, wanted to check with you whether the source I added here was sufficient to stop the edit war between you and Profitoftruth? Thanks and Best Wishes --Sikh-History 17:02, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- No dear friend. Sikhs describe Op Bluestar as a massacre means that it's a massacre from a Sikh Point of view. It in no way implies that the assertion is from a Neutral POV. As merriam websters tells me; massacre is "the act or an instance of killing a number of usually helpless or unresisting human beings under circumstances of atrocity or cruelty". This does not apply to this event. The military moved in to clear the Sikh separatists who resisted, ensuing an armed conflict. Categorizing this a massacre is not all correct. Thanks for talking this up here. Arjuncodename024 17:21, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Arjun, given the fact that certain editors with obvious and singular motives are involved in this debate, I think it is best for me to recuse myself from this debate. As much as I don't think it was a massacre in a place of worship, it's probably best I stay on the sidelines lest this whole debate go off course and turn into someone promoting Indian nationalism or whatever claim is conjured up. Good luck though. Thanks, Vedant (talk) 00:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- You are right buddy. May be the discussion will be overlooked as my "canvassing" (!). Regards Arjuncodename024 12:27, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- *sigh*... such are the perils of open-editing. I'm not inherently opposed to the concept but it's pretty clear that some users - while editing under the banner of NPOV - have very singular motives and intentions. Thus while not adding any objectionable content that violates WP policy, they aim to portray certain entities in a very particular light.Vedant (talk) 19:37, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Mango
Both the links that has been provided (Oxford and American Encyclopedia) points to the fact that Mango indeed came from Tamil: Mankay and not from Malayalam: Mankaa. Can you name one variety of Mango that is native of Kerala?
You have been disruptive here in distorting facts. I have not brought in my Tamil Nationalist sentiments here. You would do good if you carefully select your words before vomiting here when you write your comments. And you should not hurt others while you give your comments. DYK for Prayopavesa
On July 20, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Prayopavesa, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

As a Malayalam speaker, could you add the Malayalam script for Andrott? Also, could you add the interwiki (in Malayalam Wikipedia) for it, as despite being the largest settlement in Lakshadweep, no-one has added to the article.

Hi Arjun,
Hi Arjun, Is that - Saint Thomas Christians or Syrian Malabar Nasrani or Nasranis are not the part of Indian Religions? Why? Kerala is not the part of India or not?
Syrian Christianity found at AD52 (1st Century)- BUT THAT IS NOT AN INDIAN RELIGION Sikhism found at AD 1400 (14th Century)
why everyone hate Keralites? Christians? is anyone from this group fight against our nation?
St Thomas Christians are world's ancient Christian Community than any other English Nations, their rituals are different from the global Christians. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IndianDreams (talk • contribs) 09:07, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Indian religions are religions indigenous to India; Christianity is not indigenous to India, so are any of its forms. Saying "Syrian" Christianity is Indian is like saying Chinese food is European. Arjuncodename024 14:20, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

APPEAL TO YOU Reg: [BRAHMAN PUJAN] , [UNIVERSAL PRAYERS] . written by [Naresh Sonee] On wikipedia , These above two pages are far older than the present article [Brahman] References of above titles are also available on New York site - http://www.printsasia.com/BookDetails.aspx?Id=445813482 Meanwhile, Can your good selves in Wiki Project Indian Community re-create a precise pages on [Naresh Sonee] & his book [Brahmand Pujan] – [Brahmaand Pujan] . However, Sonee is the writer of this book [Brahmand Pujan] written in 1999 . registered with Government of India- HRRD. Details of the registration is provided here on http://brhmaandpujanbook.tripod.com/ . More than sufficient, news and reviews are there on http://brhmaandpujan-news-reviews.tripod.com/ Since 5-6 yrs, for one or the other reason pages of [Naresh Sonee] & [Brahmand Pujan] are faced by communal bias from outside India so these articles over and again get deleted here in Wikipedia for minor reasons. However, many hits of - Naresh Sonee reflects on google search engine also. So, I request Wiki Indian community to kindly come forward and generously help these two pages to grow, as I am fed up to fight my case alone here [left] and moved out long back. Meanwhile, such an important info/issue on ‘Indian literature’ which adds & spell ‘new meaning /dimension’ to Brahman -should it stay lost else ignored? Your community panel has to judge at last. Myself, will not be on Wikipedia, for the same i apologise, but- pls. help these two pages to get reinstalled, reap, sow and grow, if you too feel so, I appeal to do this munificent favour. Added template for SuggestBot
Hi,
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 20:42, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Could you take a look at this article, particularly at the edits of User: Profitoftruth85[1][2], which seem to be deliberately inserting bias (with misleading edit summaries) to an otherwise very stable and well-written lead[3]? Particularly problematic are his violations of WP:POINT and WP:RECENTISM in this case.117.194.192.68 (talk) 20:10, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Arjun024! Martyrdevasahayam.org is neither unreliable nor a shadow wesite of a radical religious group, but the official website of the martyr`s devotees who pray for his sainthood. Removing the link ,it seems, is not unbiased. An article about a Christian martyr shall never be blind or silent about the truth-telling all the atrocities committed against him knowingly/unknowingly on those days. Neutrality can never be maintained by allowing vested interests to throw mud on the central character as was evident in earlier edits.Kindly refer only printed and published books, preferably the old vintage ones, but not magazines which are `coloured` or mouthpieces of some radical elements. - You are a sanctimonious vandal and you know it. Go and report to whoever it is. All my edits are accompanied by well written summaries. Your reference of "Southscope, March 2011" has no credibility and even if it did, many mainstream references prove otherwise. Arjuncodename024 16:48, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
WP uses popular name given in mainstream reliable media, not by stuff reported by magazines like "Southscope". Arjuncodename024 16:50, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Why is Southscope not credible? It is produced by Allu Aravind, top producer of Telugu cinema. You shouldn't talk about people without any knowlegde. I guess, you have no southscope at home to read it, and that's why you are against this particular source and call me a vandal. --Wangond (talk) 16:53, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- It's without a doubt unreliable and your unlinked reference makes it unverifiable as well. Arjuncodename024 16:54, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I see, this is not a content dispute, but a reliability problem according to you. Then you may start a reliable source discussion at the appropriate board. Why the cited text about Buddha's birth in Odisha was taken out?
I have cited references supporting that buddha was born in Odisha, Wikipedia is not about a single view saying this is it. There are many evidences supporting this fact and many researchers have stated that Buddha was born in Odisha, isn't it a kind of partiality by simply removing this Please see the following references

Selective removal.. etc Malayalam
Could you explain what you mean?--Malaikaran (talk) 14:24, 4 July 2011 (UTC) I would like to explain, why there is less content.. First of all most of the content was fiction. The strangely presented story was also sourced badly with dubious content like "arya ezhuthu" as a name for the Grantha script. Malayalam was influenced by Sanskrit, has many words in it, but to say it has over 80% Sanskrit words in it is pure nonsense and unbackable by any reliable sources. If it had over 80% Sanskrit I could never understand my mothertongue. It is a total lie or a non-knowledgable editor, who was pushing for Sanskrit. Additionally try to find a gbook with the word Grantha Bhasha in it. Zero results. Maybe this helps to understand some of the action I made to improve the intro.--Malaikaran (talk) 15:16, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

You have introduced ambiguity, as the proposer, you should have specified one title and not a palette of choices, that could go against the proposal, please refine if it isn't too late, I had ab initio put vote on Mahatma Gandhi the most common way the subject of the article is referred.Yogesh Khandke (talk) 11:24, 20 July 2011 (UTC)- Yogesh, feel free to strike down my proposal and refine it yourself. hi, Most of the languages spoken in Indian subcontinent are currently transliterated using IAST system, and this include Dravidian languages (Malayalam does have a system, which is the IAST). So, we can romanize Malayalam names using Sanskrit transliteration, and it has been so. (Rameez pp (talk) 12:18, 29 July 2011 (UTC))

Why are you reverting the Etymology of Mango, The reference you give for Malayalam root is broken and suggest the with "probably". But the reference for Tamil root is clear. Don't revert it back, we are keeping both the root in this version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Servophbabu (talk • contribs) 05:56, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Read (1988) Organiser, Volume 40([7]), page 252 - Quote: the name Mango came to English from Malayalam through Portuguese and not from Tamil. In Malayalam, Mango fruit is called Manga with a nasal ending sound. Tamils invariably call ripe Mango fruit as Mam Pazham.
- The origin of the word has also been widely miscredited to Tamil. take note.Arjuncodename024 07:30, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with you, but the word Manga in Malayalam is came from Tamil word Manga. All the Nouns in Malayalam is from Tamil only. That's why it is called derived language of Tamil and Sanskrit[1]. Also check Manipravalam. Hence, it is not Miss credited, the root of the word Mango is Magai(Tamil)->Manga(Malayalam)->Magey(European langauage) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Servophbabu (talk • contribs) 13:37, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have cleared the citation for Malayalam word by keeping your reference. And There are reference to Tamil origin too so don't revert it now. And you should see the Dravidian language family tree, The Malayalam is not from Proto-Dravidian as you think. The fact is, it is from Tamil-Kodugu branch or Proto-Tamil. And one more thing Dravida means Tamil's. The word dravida itself refer's Tamils. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Servophbabu (talk • contribs) 04:36, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest
Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.
You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

File permission problem with File:Tathva.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Tathva.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 03:35, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
