The eleventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey which is scheduled to be released in Spring 2008.[1]
Production history
Carey reportedly said she had been writing new songs while traveling on her latest tour.[2] It was reported that Carey is recording her new album and has booked a whole month in Anguilla's biggest villa and had a studio built in it. Hip Hop producer Bryan Michael Cox visited Anguilla and contributed four new songs to the album.[3]
Announced producers and collaborators
- DJ Toomp confirmed he produced a song on her new album. Toomp told SOHH:
I really haven't heard none of the other songs on Mariah's album but the one I brought is pretty hot. It's gonna be a club banger.[4]
- Rapper T.I. was interviewed by VIBE to talk about his forthcoming album T.I. vs. T.I.P., films, and future projects. He said that he is one of the producers of one of Carey's upcoming albums.[5]
- Hip Hop producer Polow Da Don said that he'll be working with Carey for her new album.[6]
- Orlando-based producing duo The Runners said they worked with Carey for her new album. [7]
- In a Billboard magazine article, rapper T-Pain is said to be featured on one of Mariah Carey's upcoming songs.[8]
- In an August 2007 interview with the Z Morning Zoo on Z104, Timbaland's right hand man Nate "Danjahandz" Hills announced he worked with Carey.[9]
- Rolling Stone Magazine wrote:
Mariah Carey's last album The Emancipation of Mimi was the breakout hit of 2005 selling more than six million copies (in the U.S. alone). For the follow-up, she's hewing close to Mimi's glossy, club-ready sound, with beats from Hip Hop producers Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox and Will.i.am.[10]
- USA Today reported that the singer and songwriter The-Dream and producing partner Tricky Stewart had done songs for Carey.[11]
- The British songwriter "Ghost" said that she is collaborating with Mariah, among others.[12]
- Speaking at the launch of her new M fragrance in LA, she revealed:
"I am so happy with the new tracks - there are 22 that we're trying to decide from.
But the way I like to look at it is the last album was the main course,
and the new one is the dessert!"[13]
Her new album is said to be called Sweet Soul Odyssey
