The 2009 Fruitvale BART Police Shooting occurred on the morning of January 1, 2009.[1] Video recorded by another rider at the scene was later aired on local television.[2]

John Burris, who is the family's attorney, announced that he plans to file a $25 million-suit against BART. [3][4]

KTVU reported on January 5, 2009 that there is a third cell phone video of the shooting with a different angle of the shooting. Former BART police officer and Police Self-Defense Instructor Don Cameron stated that it was "not a deadly force situation" and that perhaps the officers thought he was Tasering Grant.[5]
