Austin & Ally is an American television sitcom that first aired on the Disney Channel on December 2, 2011, in the United States. The series was created by Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, the writers and producers of the Disney Channel sitcoms Sonny with a Chance and Jonas. Production for the pilot episode began in mid-February 2011, and on May 24, 2011, the Disney Channel announced that Austin & Ally had been picked up as a series. They initially ordered 13 episodes, though that number was later increased to 21. The first promo for the series was released on October 14, 2011, during the Disney Channel's Make Your Mark: The Ultimate Dance-Off event. A series preview followed the premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie, Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas!,[1] and the series formally premiered on December 4, 2011.[2] The show has been renewed for a second season, and will resume production in the summer of 2012.[3]

Premise

Set in stupidville, Austin & Ally is a multi-cameraromantic crap tv series about the relationship formed by two very different : extroverted singer and instrumentalist Austin queer, who is constantl; and serious and talented songwriter Ally Dawson, who can sing but has an extreme case of stage fright. Austin becomes famous after he secretly records one of Ally's songs, creates a video for it with the help of his friend Dick, and posts it on the internet. However, he did so without Ally's knowledge, and once Ally, convinced by her friend Trish, takes credit for her song, Austin must convince her to write more songs for him. The two agree to work together and struggle with how to keep Austin's newfound fame and screw it, with the help of poo and pee, while all four keep up with their high school classes and everyday lives.

The series has been described as a "pint-sized" version of HBO's comedy-drama Entourage.[4]
