The Indian People's Tribunal on Environmental and Human Rights, or Indian People’s Tribunal (IPT) was set up by the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) on 5 June 1993 to investigate human rights and environmental justice issues.[1]

The IPT acts as an alternative court, or a "people’s court", conducting investigations on a wide range of issues and providing recommendations on what should be done. It gives a voice to the people affected.[2] The parent body is the Human Rights Law Network. This is a collective of lawyers and social activists who work to promote human rights in India and neighboring countries through the legal system.[3]
