Orlov (Template:Lang-ru) is a town and the administrative center of Orlovsky District of Kirov Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Vyatka River, 75 kilometers (47 mi) west of Kirov. Population: 6,959 (2010 Census);[1] 8,596 (2002 Census);[2] 10,296 (1989 Soviet census).[3]

History

It was first mentioned in 1459. Town status was granted to it in 1780. Between 1923 and 1992 the town was known as Khalturin (Template:Lang-ru), after the Russian revolutionary Stepan Khalturin (1856–1882), who was born in a nearby village.
