Ballymacarbry (Irish: Baile Mhac Cairbre, meaning 'Mac Carbre's Townland')[1] is a village in County Waterford, Ireland with an approximate population of 200 people.[2]
Location
It is situated on the R671 regional road, approximately 17 km. from Clonmel and 24 km. from Dungarvan
Notable People
Daniel (Dan) Ryan, noted teacher and painter was born in the village in 1928. He went on to teach in St Eunan's College, Letterkenny, County Donegal, where he taught Geography, History and Maths for many years becoming a well known figure in the town. In later years he went on to become a painter and did many landscapes of the surrounding Donegal countryside, some of his paintings can still be found today. He died of Alzheimer's disease in 2007 aged 79.
