Dave Boliek

David Luther Boliek Jr.^[1] (born 1967 or 1968)^[2] is an American politician from North Carolina. He is the North Carolina State Auditor.

Boliek earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) and a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from Campbell University.^[2] He was elected to the board of trustees for UNC in 2019 and was reelected in 2023.^[3]

Boliek was originally a registered Democrat. In 2009 Democratic State Senator Tony Rand announced his resignation, and Boliek offered himself as a potential successor. Governor Bev Perdue instead appointed Margaret H. Dickson to fill the vacancy, and Boliek contributed to her campaign fund. He supported her Republican successor, Wesley Meredith, in his 2014 reelection campaign. After 2019, his financial contributions to Republicans' campaigns dramatically increased. In 2023, he registered with the Republican Party.^[4]

Boliek ran for state auditor in the 2024 elections.^[5] He later declared that he was inspired to be politically involved by Donald Trump.^[4] In the Republican Party primary election, Boliek and accountant Jack Clark advanced to a runoff election,^[6] where Boliek defeated Clark.^[7] He won the November general election against incumbent auditor Jessica Holmes.^[8]
