99-year-old woman goes back to school
It was back to school Friday for 99 year-old "Granny" Mildred Noel.
Bardstown Primary School students celebrated the 99th day of school with Noel to hear about her experience as a young person.
It surprised some kids when Noel told them she had the same teacher for all seven years of her schooling.
She also told them that when she was in elementary school, there were only 20 students in the entire school.
Bardstown Primary School Principal Michelle Ryan is proud to be Noel’s granddaughter.
They shared smiles and took pictures to mark the day.
Before it was all over, Noel told the group that when she was in school, she walked five miles to get to class every day—except on the days when her dad took her by horse. Although their school experiences are vastly different, Noel ended the visit with high-fives with the kids to bridge the gap.
