Description
We are a family of 3
Jake, Remi (9) and Lucy (7)
Living in the mountains of north east Victoria growing our own food and having a good time doing it. We have a small dog, about 20 sheep, laying chickens, a hive of bees and fish in the dams. We are working towards a self reliant system loosely based around the permaculture principles.
I work as a firefighter so summer is a busy time for me.
I also have a sawmill and mill salvaged logs to high quality timber.
Remi and Lucy are a hilarious combination who are always on the hunt for fun, they are capable of pulling a game out of thin air and are a pleasure to spend time with.
We love to design and build things that help improve our efficiency and free up our time so we can spend more time out doing what we love.
Skiing, camping, boating, fishing, bike riding and hiking to cool places and looking at the views.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You’ll get the opportunity to learn about gardening and growing fruit and mushrooms.
I also grow lots of trees from seeds and plant them out on the property in an attempt to grow a small forest.
Learning about the birds and the animals that live around us and the diversity of the environment and the complexities that exist within it.
I know how to do lots of things and enjoy teaching people who want to learn. I’d be happy to teach you about saw milling, building with woods. Welding and metal fabrication, maintenance, machine operations, mushroom growing, tree growing, vegetable gardening and many other things.
I have travelled a lot in the past and have been well looked after by people along the way, so i am happy to return the favour.Projects involving children

Help
I have a shared parenting arrangement with the kids. They are with me 50% of the time. I need help picking them up from the bus and hanging out with them until I get home from work.
As a firefighter I can get very busy and be called out to respond to fires on weekends and during the night. Mostly I’m home by 5pm if I’m not at a fire. During the winter I have more free time to work on projects and go on adventures.
There’s always something to do in the garden planting vegetables. Harvesting and preserving fruits.
We are currently building a sauna and a tiny home on an old truck. We are always tinkering with something.
My elderly father lives 10km away and he needs help with his property so we try to help him out with that as often as possible.
We try and keep the house tidy and as it makes life easier if you’re not living in a mess.
Most days are pretty casual so you’ll find plenty of time to enjoy the wonderful area.Languages
