Oldham County teacher uses Tik Tok to connect with students

LA GRANGE, Ky. (WTVQ/WHAS) – A math teacher at Oldham County Middle School is engaging students beyond the classroom.

Craig Smith posted video of himself dancing in his classroom on the video-sharing, social media platform Tik Tok.

It has since gained national attention. In one of his most popular videos, he has 1 million views.

Smith says it isn’t about the views and likes, but instead the connections he’s been able to build with the students.

“The better my relationships are with them, the more engaged I am with them,” Smith says. “It gets me more personal relationships with them, they’re more willing to talk to me, they’re more willing to ask questions.”
