Close to Jackson Lake and just 25 miles north of Moose, Wyoming, the Colter Bay Campground is part of the Colter Bay Village area of the park, which is home to a general store, a museum, restaurants, a marina and opportunities to horseback ride, canoe and kayak. Despite its proximity to a ton of great services, the campground’s 335 sites are tucked in a wooded area. There are 13 sites with electric hook-ups and a dumping station. There are showers at the campground. Open mid-May to late September, this campground has an RV park with full hook-ups and spaces that can accommodate rigs 45 feet in length, tent cabins and tent campsites.

Surrounded by large boulders and evergreen trees, Jenny Lake Campground is the most popular campground in the park. Part of the draw is its proximity to the lake coupled with the fact that it is a tents-only campground. No RVs, pop-ups or trailers are allowed. It’s just eight miles north of Moose, and a short distance from the shores of Jenny Lake. It’s open early May through late September.

Lizard Creek Campground

Amid a spruce and fir forest, Lizard Creek Campground is easy to access from Yellowstone’s South Entrance as it is located on the north end of the park 32 miles north of Moose. It sits slightly above the northern shores of Jackson Lake and is home to 60 sites. Only vehicles 30 feet or less are permitted in this campground. It’s open mid-June through early September.

Signal Mountain Campground

For those who want to be close to amenities like a marina, camp store and Signal Mountain Lodge, the Signal Mountain Campground is the place for you. Just nine miles north of Jenny Lake, this campground has 25 electric hook-up sites and a dump station. With a mix of lake and mountain views amid spruce and fir trees, the 81 sites here tend to be smaller and only accommodate vehicles 30 feet or under. It’s open mid-May through mid-October.
