This is a nice place to take the kiddos for fun, while offering parents (and grandparents) a bit of a break while watching them play. I've been in more impressive kid-friendly museums, and this Nevada community resource is a very good family experience and a nice time out.
I was also here recently for a birthday party, of which the group room in the basement was well appointed for the occasion. Our host was a bit surprised by the "per head" based pricing, as several adults showed up and ran up the bill. That factor also stretched the capacity of the party room. What happened to the days where kids were just dropped off for the party and picked up later?Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 0 - Aug 11, 2024
This was our first time at CMNN and my kids had a blast. They literally would have stayed there from open to close if we could have. It was nice to find a place to stimulate imaginative play that is affordable, safe, and fun for everyone.
My 4 year old loved the grocery store, HUGE slide, the train simulator, and construction areas the most. My 2 year old also loved the grocery store and the little play area for littles the most.
My favorite part was that I was able to watch both my kids run around as all the play areas are in one large open room. It was also great that I could play with them in all the areas, except for the tunnel and slide area. And there was calming lullaby type music playing the entire 2 hours we were there so it kept the place feeling calm and quiet even with all the kids playing and running around.
The museum is a beautiful historic brick building and they've kept it up well. There are a few parts where they could maybe use some paint or updated toys, but overall this museum is well run and there is so much to do and fun to be had.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 120293867Feb 7, 2024
Although this small is small, I found it to be amazingly well thought out and my kids loved it! They have tons of fun interactive climbing, activities, dress up, creative displays and real life play. It's designed like a small town, there's the dentist where you can put on a coat and play dentist in the chair, there's the fire station where you can dress up and put out fires with a plastic fire extinguisher, a rocket ship, a grocery store, a railroad play station, a climbing area with slide, and much more. I actually like that it was not so big so my kids didn't get intensely overwhelmed and I could see them wherever they ran to. The lunch area where you can sit and eat inside is full of dinosaurs almost land before time inspired. We will be back probably weekly with our annual membership!

I am torn on the Children's Museum. The Museum is a big room divided up into smaller themed rooms (Train station set, grocery store, construction site, state capital, taxidermy, slides, fire department, dentist, and sherrifs office among other play structures). While it is creative and a good place to let little ones burn some energy the museum felt underwhelming. I wished it was more updated and had interactive educational activities.

If my kids were rating this, they'd probably go 4 stars or more, but as the parent, I'm stuck at 3.5 stars.
I'm grateful we have a place like this in our community, and it's clear the staff and leadership have done a lot to make this a fun space for the kids to enjoy. The museum is one large room broken up into several themed spaces that allow the kids to explore different topics or themes like trains, Nevada wildlife, firefighters, etc.
My kids liked the grocery store, which had carts, food items, and a register. The space allowed several kids to play together, which they did organically, and I liked seeing that. There are also costumes and other fun scattered in the other spaces, and it's cool to see the kids explore and discover.
Unfortunately a lot of it seemed pretty old and tired to me. Things were mission or not in great working order, which meant using our imagination a lot more than I thought was going to be necessary.
There's a little kids area in one corner with tot level climbing structures and such, and there's a bigger kids climbing area with tunnels that run along an entire side of the room. The kids loved this area but the structure was definitely showing its age. At the end of the tunnel is a large slide that looked to be made of two separate slides put together. At the bottom is a crash pad, which is more than necessary as this slide is VERY fast and it ends in the middle of the museum on the tile, and the kids aren't exactly paying attention to who's coming or going, meaning crashes happen often.
The day we went they were celebrating Chinese New Year and had a large stage production, which was very nice to see. It was fully interactive and the kids were invited on stage to take part, and my kids really enjoyed that.
I guess I was expecting a bit more from the overall experience, but I would definitely come back as they add new exhibits or special programming.
Again, it's great to have this in our community. I hope more people support it because they need the funds to keep the show going.Helpful 19Thanks 1Love this 8Oh no 0 - Dec 15, 2021

But we also made our way to the second floor find the Legos and the Art Room to create, crafts, glue, glitter and make our one of kind roadway with a matchbox car and build Legos!

Not sure how to rate it. At first appearance, I wasn't impressed. There is a large play area for the kids but not so much in the way of exhibits. At the far end of the building, there is a taxidermy bear and a few skins of other animals from our region. I had taken my 2 granddaughters (5 & 8 yrs) who were bored at first. I walked them around the play area to spark some interest and they got interested in the play area and rock climbing wall. There were no classes or anything special on the day we visited. We visited on December 29, so perhaps we got there on a bad day? I asked about the downstairs area to see if we were missing anything and was told there were only classrooms downstairs. Unclear if classes/workshops were only available to groups. The facility is clean and in the end, the girls had fun but it was nothing I expected.

Everything is filthy, no padding below the huge slide so someone can easily break their tailbone because of how fast the kids slide down it, missing parts to toys, broken toys oh and did I say filthy.

This is more like a big play area . Good for smaller children under 10 years of age . Lots of running to each little play area . Large slide . Good fun for a couple of hours !

I would not really call this a museum. More of an indoor playground. They haven't changed it in over 25 years except updated the same displays. No hands on science things and I believe they use to have exhibits downstairs. (Now office's). It reminded me of a daycare with play areas.
They charge way too much. $10 for kids 3 and up. $5 for 2 years old and $3 for adults. Worth the trip to Reno for a real Children's Museum.
I was grossed out by their dentist display with the large toothbrush. Kids were putting that and dental tools in their mouth. Did they not learn anything in 2020?
While the kids had fun today, the train play area I think was their favorite. I felt the cost was too high for a playground. We will not be coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
