This review is as a whole and includes this branch.
I have bone to pick that this bank although I have completed my payments on a car loan that includes 2 deferred payments from COVID are ballooning payments at the end for me to pay off. For the record it is noted that there would be interest payments accrued, however, I had gone into this very branch with one of my deferred coupon stubs and one final payment and was told that I would be notified with the remaining balance AND THIS WAS NOT TRUE!!!
Now that I've called them to inquire am finding out that I have to make a whopping payment in the next 7 days to prevent a late fee with an interest accrual of 9 cents a day (Really?).
You guys don't even sound like you care. I was never delinquent and you want to threat late fees and reporting to the credit bureau (Really?).
You will never get my business again.
I hope people get to see this post as more often as possible.
It sickens me that customer service has always been the least of your concerns since I could remember in my time I've been on this island.
I look forward to rid of your antics.
I can see why State of Hawaii, where I work at dropped you folks for Bank of America.
I hope this is propagated throughout all that deal or want to deal with these characters.
Inexcusable, and I should really feel good about paying this loan off, however, you duds spoiled it.

Recommended! At first, I was a little afraid to come here because of some of the reviews, but it is a convenient location. I had a savings account here before, so I came here first.

I arrived at around 11:30/lunch time, so it was a little light-staffed, as expected. A young lady was just leaving to lunch in the new account area.

For the last 3 to 4 years, I have had an online-only bank with Chime. I have been very happy with them until recently. I received a $420 check from a class Action lawsuit. Normally, I just take a photo and can deposit a check with them, but this time they did not accept it. I even tried to cash it at Walmart and they did not cash class action lawsuit checks.

I emailed the law office that it came from and they assured me that the check was good, so I decided I would open up a second account with a bank location.

When I arrived at First Hawaiian Bank, there was one other guy in front, waiting his turn. A young man came back from lunch and took him. Shortly after, Noneth, who I happen to know, introduced me to Jenny to open my account.

Jenny knew her stuff and explained everything well as my checking account was set up.

I would recommend this Bank and location. Not sure why there are negative reviews on here.

      Banking on banking...

As many things are turning more virtual or self served banking is no different as I received my new card to be replaced you need to call it in to activate which I did though found it unusable at a couple of places.

I usually avoid this location as it has been a nightmare just to get answers and today is no different as I did see long lines again...sigh so I decided to go to the information desk instead.

The gentleman was a delight and seems like the concierge of the bank and I was lucky that no one was there at the moment as he did take care of my situation and answered a bunch of questions as well. Made the changes and even got to prompt the cue to my phone as it wrang while I was walking out the door. This type of service is why I decided to take my business to FHB and it somehow fell and got lost along the way.

There are still many many issues here I really hope to fix and I'm inches away to changing banks as some perks is what drew me here as Priority Banking is basically non existent as as this location is going under massive renovation I'm hoping some will go internally as well as it's just still in need of improvement.

      Thank you!

Wow now I know why this bank has only 2 stars!
Customer service in this branch is horrible! No personality and cannot speak good English! The 2 people we interacted with seemed like they really hate working here! We were planning on opening a new business acct but there were only 2 people doing new acct services. We couldn't understand the first girl that was handling the checkins and the second was in training. Trainer seemed hung over or pretty grouchy. Both of which weren't friendly or welcoming at all. I'm old school and all about good customer service. This bank needs to teach their employees basic customer service skills!
      Gonna try Bank of Hawaii!

This location, I came to do a transaction in person. Asked to deposit some checks with the teller. She basically told me to do it on my phone or at an ATM. I used to be a bank teller. She is lazy. By the way, Kailua Location is worse.
Should switch to Bank of Hawaii shouldn't I.

I like this branch of FHB for its ATM convenience as I'm an online use, mostly. I come here usually to get cash to ransom Sofie from the groomers or need cash to goof around in the area.

Parking is a breeze and plentiful. Convenient to the outside ATMs and has a parking lot attendant so no worries about the stranger weaving through the lot looking into the cars.

I'm not a fan of the use of the inside for teller assistance. I was in there on Tuesday and I'm not kidding, there were 20 people in line which was not moving. I just turned around and left knowing I could call or go online for the information I wanted. Like all businesses right now they need are hiring.

Business line has only one bank teller which makes no sense when there is 3 booths made for this branch. Gotta wait 20-30min for 3 people to be processed. Absolutely ridiculous

I have been a customer of First Hawaiian Bank for about 40 years, and have an account at the Kapiolani Branch. The customer service at this branch is very inefficient as compared with the Kapahulu Branch, the Kahala Branch, and the Manoa Branch, along with the Makiki Branch. The tellers are consistently rude and the Service Supervisor is inconsiderate. This is not in the tradition of Mr. Bellinger and those who succeeded him.
      This is very discouraging.

Well, I came leisurely in to do some banking of balances, withdrawal, and transferring of funds between accounts. While standing second in line, the computers go down. Yikes, the place vacated and huge amount of people went to Maliki branch that came up. What if the computers not fully functioning? I said that I'll stay and wait. They saw me with a cane and gave me a chair. If they can't get the system up in 20-30 minutes, I would need to talk to their techs. A surge can knock out the system. To me, it takes a reset and shouldn't take more than twenty minutes. Guess what?! It took less than 15 minutes!
Woo Hoo! Good techs...job well done. People are accommodating and friendly here. Check it out...Ciao!
