I wanted to show my friend visiting from Kenya what SJ is known for. My first pick is Cafe Quyen but that place quickly became a ghost town with 1 person inside and 0 girls on a Friday night? We did a quick 180 and bounced.

We came here to 408 Cafe because it was only a few doors down. The place had music so that drew us in. We sat down in one of the many booths that was avail and the waitress immediately brought out our yellow water. I asked if it was jasmine tea and she said "um it's barely that".

We couldn't decide what to drink since we just got done with dinner so I just ordered a ca phe sua da and my friend didn't find anything appealing to drink so he passed. The drink she brought out was barely more than 1/2 but I wasn't picky since I just wanted to slam it and go to the next spot since the girls here were not cute at all. They were a little thick and wore even less complimenting outfits. Not trying to be an ass, but if you're gonna work here, at least be somewhat appealing! Real talk.

When I walked up to the register, the lady told me $10. I reminded her I only had 1 coffee. She said something to the girls in VN and blurted "ten dolla" again. WTF? Then one of the girls explained to me that there is a $4.50 tea charge if you don't order any drink. What??? Well why the hell wouldn't i order one then if you're gonna charge me anyways? She told me, "do you want a drink then?" I was so annoyed with their stupid scam. I mean I prob wouldn't have minded if there was at least SOME eye candy, but to look at a bunch of blah chicks? Hell no. I'm not coming back here. Ever.

Not sure why other people are complaining. I really like this place. The service is great and wow, their food was amazing. I was pleasantly shocked. And prices are comparable to other Vietnamese restaurants nearby. The drinks; however, frozen smoothies were decent. I still prefer Coffee Lovers.

My main suggestions for the place is music. Keep it continuous bc there were awkward silent in between songs.

Went here once for with a couple friends, and to be honest, my expectations were not met.

There is an entrance fee that they don't tell you about, so beware. I think it's about 10-20 bucks a person, I don't remember. Yes, not that much, you'd think it'd be worth it right? Not really ...

Calamari was okay, nothing too special but nicely fixed, with pretty garnish. And their tea was just refreshing, we did get refills that we didn't need to ask for.

But onto the whole purpose.. What makes Vietnamese coffee shops Vietnamese coffee shops ... Our waitresses were cutely dressed and nice but did not really bother to talk to us. Sure, were not their expected audience, (usually it's much older men) but if we're paying an entrance fee, especially when it's not busy (and we were the only people there), I would think they would be willing to at least spark some conversation and go a little more out of their way to be a little sweeter!

      Yeah, not really worth it

Great music, coffees, smoothies, lovely waitresses, I love the dimness of the place, the lighting is just perfect. I can't really say anything bad about the place.
I've gotta come back here and bring my friends.

great location, very great location, I hope this place always stays open.

The waitresses here sure know alot about style and the bottomless tea is very dope.
      Ha bottomless tea, goodtimes!!

dropped by to get a cup of joe. greeted at the door by friendly waitress in low cut attire, little else, and smiles.

place is dark, has lots of booths and flatscreens
      brew: vietnamese coffee(5)
      -tasted pretty good
-haven't had one in ages so can't judge

      notes:
-took drink to go. no time to sit and eyeball the cuties.
-cafe looks new, clean, mostly empty.

Having been to a few of these cafes, this is by far my favorite.

Friendly staff and fast wifi make for a great place to bring some light work or studying. You have to be comfortable with somewhat loud music and walls of TVs but all this is less distracting than I expected.

The booth layout makes this less of a place to stare and more of a place to chat with friends.

Did I mention the bottomless tea?

If this were located in Mountain View it would be packed from open to close.

been frequenting this place off and on over the past few months. chill spot to kick it with the homies from work.

Jalyssa ( please don't kill me is i spelled your name wrong) is an exceptionally charming server, and i appreciate her company, just wish that they would chit chat with the patron a little more, otherwise this place is chill.

Also have had a great time with Gaby, she is always happy to see us, and probably enjoys her job by the looks of things : )

and the new girl, LISA, she just looks like a pint size basket of goodness, sweet &petite.

good place to kick it if you just feel like sitting back, they don't care what you do here, owners super nice family

This is a pretty decent place. It has good food for a cheap price. It has tasty smoothies. The environment looks like something out of a Vietnamese cartoon. The place does not allow any smoking unlike other places of this nature. And most importantly (the main reason guys drive to East San Jose) the waitresses are good looking! This is the "cleanest" Vietnamese coffee shop you will find. Now I am not sure that's a good thing as when one is looking for a coffee shop cleanest is probably not the trait that you are looking for ;)

Went here Monday (05/27/2013), greeted by one of two waitresses working and promptly seated. Served with in a few minutes of sitting down. Most of the crowd were older men with two couples; we got there around ten or so am, about one quarter of the tables & booths were occupied. I got a Mango smoothie and my roommate got an mocha smoothie both of us got tea. we stayed for an hour a& a half. played cards. overall good experience
