Butcher and Rose the newest jewel in Cameron Mitchell's crown. This restaurant has inspired many reviews, press and 'noise'. The 'jewel' can be found on the ground floor of the redeveloped Preston Centre on East Broad Street. Over half of the staff have been relocated from other CM restaurants helping to make this new venture start with a bang and not a whisper!

Saturday night we celebrated a couple of birthdays at Butcher and Rose. Reservations are easily available on Open Table. I stated on the reservation that I wanted to be sat downstairs and in the main room. I even called the day of to double check. I did this because the restaurant's theme is carried out only, really in the main room. Rose petal art installations cascade around the room alongside the most beautiful glass chandeliers which are the perfect backdrop drop to a beautiful mural of five bulls. Even within the painting rose petals are scattered at their hooves, an artist representation of beauty of the beast maybe? As I mentioned earlier I had doubled checked where we were going to be seated and still the host tried to take us to the back room. I very politely mentioned the error and a few seconds later we were seated in a booth in the main area.

The offer of sparkling and still water at our table was nice, I did appreciate not having to request water, in addition it was refilled constantly during the evening without once having to ask. Jeremy our waiter and took our drink order pretty quickly. cocktail wise our party ordered the 'The Bruce',
Russell's 10 year, overproof rye, Cynar 70, filthy cherries. 'The Butcher', wagyu-washed Maker's Mark, demerara, smoked cinnamon and two ordered the Lucien Albrecht Cremant D'alsace Brut Rosé. We were all curious by the wagyu-washed Maker's Mark element and can confidently report that there's certainly a thickness in it that one hasn't tasted in other bourbons cocktails. All the drinks were great if a little slow getting to our table.

To start between us we ordered the Parker house bread, Caesar salad, dirty tots and the Wagyu tenderloin carpaccio. I can't even begin to tell you how silky soft the rolls were, the butter perfectly salted was a match made in heaven. The Caesar you could order with or without anchovies, we ordered them on the side and I can say with confidence that they are the icing on the delicious fresh salad cake. The dirty tots to my surprise came adorned with trout roe on the top along with dill and remoulade. They are the grown up potato side dish that everyone must try, totally melt in your mouth happiness. The carpaccio came with garlic aioli, cured egg, and crackers. An amazing addition to the other dishes that we had ordered.

We never felt rushed while at Butcher and Rose, Jeremy seemed to know exactly the right time to take our order for the next course which came to the table at seemingly the right time. One of our party ordered the lobster bisque to try before the entrees, if you've ever had lobster bisque at 'Aubergine' this tasted as good and reminded us of fond times. Chunks of lobster could be found amongst the creamy soup.

Entrees followed two people ordered the Beef Wellington, another had the 8oz Piedmontese filet while I had the 8oz filet with the Diane sauce. my husband and I are both English and typically think of this dish as 'home'. My husband in particular can be snobby about Beef Wellington being cooked correctly. Wrapped with golden pastry, mushroom duxelles, served with dijon and a red wine demi-glace. Apparently this was best Beef Wellington he had ever had including England! High praise indeed (the American in our party liked it too)!! The steaks were cooked to the correct temperature, one could taste how good the cut of meat was in every mouth watering bite. Sides we had the Mac & Cheese, the chili roasted broccoli, and the roasted mushrooms. I am not a huge fan of Mac & Cheese but this one was flawless, cheesy but light at the same time. The broccoli was simply divine and I could have happily eaten just that and my steak! The mushrooms had Brie and pearl onions nestled within them which them earthy and meaty in a good way.

As we were celebrating birthdays deserts followed. The honey butter cake is to die for and must be ordered. The crème brûlée was magical and randomly served with a raspberry sorbet. However it worked well together. The chocolate cake was too bitter in my opinion and can be skipped on the menu!

Butcher and Rose is quintessentially the perfect example of when Cameron Mitchell gets it right. The restaurant was busy, full and yet I felt as though we had wonderful service. A beautiful mix of people with an air of celebration and cheer was felt that night.

Thank you for taking time to read my review!

Recently went to celebrate a birthday and had a really great time! Went all out with bread and French onion soup for appetizers. Moved on to a filet and a beef Wellington for our mains. Finished off with a cheesecake and chocolate cake. Everything was near perfection but the beef Wellington came out over done. Slight disappointment and the primary reason I took a star off given its their highlighted menu item so one should expect more perfection with it. Afterwards, I had talked to others who had gone and they experienced similar experiences with the Wellington being overcooked. I had asked for medium rare and it came out more medium well. We really had excellent service and they were extremely knowledgeable. While it's too expensive to go frequently, we'll for sure be back for special occasions.

As expected, our evening at Butcher & Rose was beyond perfect! From the warm greeting at the entry by cheerful hosts, to the attentive assistants pouring waters, scraping bread crumbs, every staff member was fully invested in our experience. I asked one of the assistants about the meaning behind the title of the restaurant and he immediately had the answer..impressive!
Jeremy, our server, was kind and engaging and so knowledgeable about the wines and menu details. He took the lead in our decision making and our food and wine did not disappoint. The Parker house rolls were clearly made in heaven, melting in our mouths, and the crisp Bibb salad was a unique blend of all our favorite things, goat cheese, avocado, and a light, refreshing vinaigrette. To try and describe the Wagyu steaks is nearly impossible but let's just say the best we've had! Absolute perfection! Our favorite at the bar, Ashley, served amazing cocktails as well! The vibe was classy but not too high end. I have to say again the staff worked seamlessly together with smiles and projected a truly professional and positive image! The decor was almost island meets art deco and the highlight was the windows opening to welcome the night air. We can't wait to experience Butcher & Rose again, it's the way dining out should always be!

The vibe is what you'd expect from an upscale steakhouse, but it's even more beautiful inside. The service is excellent, as per CM usual. We got the Parker House Rolls after seeing dozens being brought out from the kitchen, and they were one of our favorites! I ordered the lobster bisque which was a bit runny, but had a few big chunks of lobster. The steak was wonderful, and the mac and cheese is a must! We'll be back, and not soon enough!

Best birthday dinner ever. Reservation at 645. Baked scallop appetizer, two glasses of wine a piece, filet medium for each of us, Mac and Cheese and the most amazing Potato Anna OMG life changing! B & R had a lovely shout out mini sign wishing me a happy birthday. Service was impeccable. Food was INCREDIBLE and the experience was worth every penny. I cannot wait to go back. I'm a die-hard for bougie experiences and fine dining. Totally worth it and my advice? Just do it.

The service from Susan was awesome and she was very attentive and made sure I got pictures before we ate. They had just opened up a couple weeks ago and it so beautiful inside and out. I am an avid fan of Cameron Mitchell restaurants. Butcher and Rose is no exception. I will say that it fairs with other restaurants in its class, no more or no less. I think I was expecting a little more but felt the taste could have been any CM restaurant. I had the Wagyu steak and baked potato. The steak was decent, baked potato filling. That's about it..The ambiance was great.

Went to Butcher & Rose after reading many reviews and talking to friends.
So happy we experienced this for one of our birthdays.
Have to say that Maria and Reece made the experience one that will stay at the top of our memories for a long time.
Great explanations of the menu, pairings and the abundance of food.
We ended up getting Snooze Buttons and the Cosmopolitan Fauxtail.
Started with the Parker House Rolls with Cultured Butter as well as Dirty Tots. So delicious.
Split an Iceberg Wedge Salad. Had the amazing French Onion Soup.
Main dishes were the Wagyu Cheeseburger with Sea Salt Fries, the Beef Wellington with sides including: Chili Roasted Broccoli, Potato Anna and Baked Mac & Cheese.
Took so much food home, along with Chocolate Cake and Carrot Cake.
Took a tour upstairs, what a wonderful place and experience.
Beautiful atmosphere, it did fill up, but did not take away from our experience in any way.

Repeat customers. As always the food and service were awesome. I really just posted to add pictures. The Toro is fantastic. Even without a sauce the pork chop is juicy and very tasty. I might be in the minority here but I like better than steak, especially for the price. Then the Snooze Buttons are a perfect end.
