Q:
Is Carmax "no dicker sticker?" Or is what they advertised what they expect people to pay? Thanks.

We had no intentions of buying a car at CarMax. We'd never set foot in one until I went in to get my car appraised for them to purchase. But, upon being helped by Norman, our eyes stared being opened little by little to how different their process and service was from the traditional dealership experience.
We got our appraisal. It was the most competitive we'd gotten anywhere. We looked at various cars, test drove a couple of them, transferred cars from their Orlando location and their Clearwater location (each were ready to test drive within a couple of days), and one of those ended up impressing the hell out of us!
The buying process was ridiculously easy. What would have taken an entire day or more at a traditional dealership, took only 3 hours for us (from arrival and test drive, to driving the new car out of there), including selling them our car, getting a check for the equity cut for us, registration, all of it!
Their company slogan of "the way car buying should be" is NO JOKE. They absolutely live up to that! Every single aspect of the process was ridiculously easy. We received reassurances and straight-forward answers at every step.
Bottom line... we're believers! Next time we're car-buying, This is going to be our first and possibly only stop.
Norman was awesome! Give that man a bonus.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kevin A.SoMa, San Francisco, CA010Mar 8, 2025

worst experience. drove across the state to test drive the car, loved the car, said I'll buy it. Since it is an export they said they could t complete the sale, someone from corporate would call. Well, it's three days later and no calls, and have been given the run around for 1.5 hours in the phone.
I'm don't want to deal with a corporation that is too big to do their jobs.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Barry C.Tampa, FL042Feb 12, 2025
I will never buy another car from Carmax! I bought my second vehicle from them after having a great experience with the first. I bought a 2016 BMX 6 series in 2022. Within two years it needed 17k in repairs, luckily under warranty , now I need another $9700 in repairs. I called Customer relations for assistance after finding out the warranty I thought I had had expired. I express to them i couldnt afford these repairs and make car payments thru Carmax and if there was anything they could help me with. They declined assisting me! Carmax doesnt care about repeat customers!! I've recommend family and friends purchase cara from them which they did! Now I regret even doing business with them!

From first call to actual purchase everything went smoothly. Sean Lacy, our salesman was great . Everything was explained and the offer they made for our trade in was greater than we expected . This is our 4th car thru Car Max

This is regarding the service department. I brought my truck in for service a few months ago and could never get through on the phone to check the status. So frustrating.
Today I called to make an appt for an oil change and inspection on some issues I'm having with the truck. Once again I was sent by their annoying virtual operator into voicemail. Tried calling several times and got the same runaround.
No message left. I simply called Elder Ford, spoke with a human and got my appt scheduled for tomorrow. What a concept. Actual customer service. If you want service go anywhere, but CarMax.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Edward W.FL, FL067Aug 21, 2024
Bought my 2018 Subaru Legacy during a thunderstorm so I didn't get a chance to inspect the paint until a few days later. My salesman promised that Carmax would repair a small tear in the drivers seat and instructed me to drop it off for repairs within the next 90 days. Thirteen days later I dropped off the car and pointed out a few small paint issues while only expecting to have the seat fixed. Chris in service was so professional. He asked no questions regarding my paint concerns and he kept me updated through the whole thing, which was really appreciated. He immediately sent my car back to the paint shop where his team did an incredible job with the paint. A day later my seat was professionally repaired as if the tear never existed. I'm very happy with my experience with sales and service and even better I am very happy with my car. I typically do all of my own vehicle maintenance, but if I ever get lazy I'll be returning to Carmax service is Tampa, Florida.

So update on my car. We're now on month 5 of needing a new transmission. Carmax in Tampa on Nebraska has been dishonest, incompetent. Their corporate office is a joke and I provided them a time line and provided detailed notes with all the phone calls I made date and times. I provided that to the BBB and Carmax corporate and they were dishonest in their response to the BBB. So if you are ever going to purchase a car through Carmax DO NOT buy their extended service plan and expect dishonest practices from them. If anyone knows of any attorneys I'm looking for one. They don't even deserve a 1 star review

CarMax Service Shop is a joke. I have a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe with 46K miles and in April it started making a weird noise and wasn't shifting properly and it didn't always want to start. We have the CarMax service plan and we took it in on April 9 2024, and they said it needed a new fuel pump and a new transmission. They were able to fix the fuel pump but the transmission was on back order. Didn't get any updates from them on when the part should be in unless we called them. We got a text with service appointment on June 17th to take the car in June 18th. My husband got a call saying that the part wasn't in yet. Finally we got a text at the end of July to take my car in July 26th 2024 to get fixed. Picked my car up 7/29/24 and my car was worse than when we dropped it off, even though Kyle in service had told my husband that my car was driving beautifully. Now it was shifting hard to where it would jerk you in your seat and it wouldn't go over 49 mph-which hadn't been an issue prior to them fixing it. Called service multiple times on between 7/30/24 and was unable to get Brandon the service manager to give me a call. Was told that it was now the catalytic converter and it needed to go to Hyundai to be fixed. They had my car towed to Hyundai and the catalytic converter was fixed. Picked my car up again on 8/9/24 and it was still shifting hard and having issues shifting and getting back up to speed. Dropped my car off to CarMax yet again. During this time I had a rental car through my service plan from 7/26/24-7/29/24. From 7/30/24-8/12/24 after multiple requests to get Brandon to call me he finally called me on 8/12/24. He took no accountability and when I told him I was disappointed we caught Kyle in a lie, his response was he was sorry we were having a hard time. As of this post it is apparently now my turbo charger and should be fixed on 8/15/24 or 8/16/24. The sales department has been good and tried to help me. The employees who went above and beyond were Lance, Sam. Linda and Judy. If we were to ever buy a car from CarMax again it would be because of them. - Chloe G.USF, Tampa Bay, FL010Jul 26, 2024
Fanelli helped me with my car and tried to make sure I get a good price for it. He is very sweet. Give him a raise
