You know you're in for a long wait when you walk in and almost everyone has blankets and are sleeping. Someone said they've been there for 12hrs already- completely unacceptable! Place is dirty too- tissues, etc all over the floor. I can only imagine what the restroom looks like. Only came here because it's closed to my home but definitely do not recommend.

We regret to share a deeply concerning experience during our recent stay at Cleveland Clinic Akron General . Our primary concern revolves around the quality of care provided to our grandfather, which fell significantly short of expectations.
There were instances of apparent neglect and miscommunication among medical staff, leading to serious repercussions for our loved one. It was disheartening to witness procedural errors, such as attempts at interventions without thorough review of patient charts or consideration of existing medications.
Additionally, there were substantial delays in addressing critical needs, including missed food orders and an extended wait for necessary procedures due to issues with blood thickness management. These lapses in care not only prolonged our stay but also contributed to unnecessary discomfort and stress.
Furthermore, we observed systemic challenges within the administration and nursing staff, which appeared overwhelmed and unable to provide adequate support. It is evident that there are areas for improvement in workload management and communication protocols to ensure better patient outcomes.
We are also troubled by the perception of profit-driven practices, including concerns about unnecessary tests and procedures potentially motivated by financial gain. This undermines the trust between patients and healthcare providers and raises ethical concerns about prioritizing monetary interests over patient well-being.
Despite these challenges, we acknowledge the dedication and hard work of many individuals within the hospital. However, it is clear that systemic changes are needed to address the underlying issues and restore confidence in the quality of care provided.
We urge hospital leadership to conduct a thorough review of internal processes and prioritize patient-centered care. Our hope is that by sharing our experience, necessary improvements can be made to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future and ensure the highest standard of care for all patients.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 3 - Jeanne J.Cleveland, OH090Oct 22, 2024
Scraping the bottom of the barrel for doctors. Every time I get a chest cold they want me to get an unnecessary chest x-ray. I also have a slipped disc in my thoracic spine from a bad uber rear ended accident that this doctor would correlate with the accident, but by the time I went to court the doctor changed his mind and would not correlate. My attorney said Cleveland clinic does not like their doctors to go to court and so I got screwed for a lifelong permanent injury. Now my thumbs are turned inward and I'm losing strength and coordination on both hands, my balance is getting worse, and my bowels are not moving right.

I understand there are staffing issues all around. I genuinely do . But, when you go to the ER looking for care , 7+ hours in the waiting room... is an unacceptable amount of time . I had vitals, x-rays, and bloodwork . That's all. I could hardly walk by the time we left because of pain in my abdomen. Sitting and waiting to get SOME kind of care and being able to hear what other people were coming in for (because there is zero privacy to state what you need to be seen for), people were being taken back ahead of more serious needs. At the 6 1/2 hour mark of waiting a lady came in with literally the identical symptoms that I had. She sat in the waiting room for maybe 35 minutes, the door opened and they called her back to go to a room. My husband was fuming at the point. Knowing I was getting worse as the time went by. So many people left going to another hospital. The bathrooms in the waiting room were deplorable. When I got called back for re-vitals (yes 3 times bloodwork as well. Had 4 sticks because one was a miss), I would use the restroom in the back. At the very end of our 7+ hour wait... the final straw was when someone came in with a large pit bull on a leash. (Yes I am an animal lover... the dog didn't bother me... but seriously someone could have a major allergy), no service dog vest, or signage on the dog. He was well behaved, but seriously? If you value your health and privacy in the least.. do NOT go here.

This ER has become a nightmare. A year ago I waited 4 hrs in horrible pain...ended up going to Medina Hospital where I was seen in 20 minutes...Thank goodness because I had a blood clot. This week my mother in law sat in there for 9 hrs. She has cancer and pnuemonia and purple fingers. The did some testing and then nothing...never saw a dr. She felt so sick they finally gave up and went home. Going to a different ER today. Won't ever go back there and will let everyone know what pit that place has become. Wonder just how many lawsuits they see these days.

Who the hell is managing the Emergency Department? Average wait times for patients are between 6 and 8 hours! In what world is this acceptable, 3rd world banana republic treatment of patients in Northeast Ohio? Irresponsible, unprofessional and totally unacceptable. Next time I feel a need for professional medical treament, it damn sure won't be in this poorly managed shithole. Did I mention the pathetic sanitation obvious in this facility? Just icing on this Fecal Cake known as Cle Clinic Akron Generals emergency room. Heal thyself or go elsewhere.

They'll have you wait in the lobby for hours and overall treat you very poorly, you'll do better going to another hospital

If you're having a true emergency this is the place to go. You will be treated quickly as I've used them twice in the past 3 years and both times was seen within minutes and put in a ER bed. It did take a bit of time for the admittance process to get me a bed for my hospital stay in the main hospital but within a few hours I was admitted and made comfortable. These doctors are great at diagnosing you and the nurses are even better for treating you and explaining what's happening with you. All the doctors and nurses that treated me on the 2100 hall were outstanding.

I understand they're short on staff, but I've walked in there, and it's packed. A few people were lying on the floor and looked dead last time I went.
