Food 4 Less in Santee has all of their safeguards in place. Please follow them for everybody's safety including yours.
I arrived around 11:00 AM on Saturday and there was quite a line to get in as they only allow X-amount of people in the store at one time. If you're familiar with the Santee location, the line stretched all the way around the corner to the front of the Pizza Hut. That is where I joined my fellow masked shoppers. The line moved fairly quickly. It was 35 minutes and I was in the store. Considering where I started I thought that was pretty good.
My friends went the following Sunday at 7:00 AM and reported no line at all, so keep that in mind.
Once in, shopping was a breeze because of the lack of fellow shoppers. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty nice!
The store itself was very well stocked. Except for paper towels they had plenty of everything. Meat, veggies, canned goods, beer, etc. Also, items were priced as they normally would be. No gouging going on here.
Do not bring your own shopping bags into the store. Leave them in your car and bag your groceries there or buy bags at checkout.
As per usual the Food 4 Less employees were kind, helpful and upbeat.
Please people, respect social distancing. Not just with the employees, but with your fellow shoppers as well.
Hopefully this ends soon and we can all get our lives back!Nov 10, 2016Previous reviewI've been shopping at this Food 4 Less in Santee since it was first built. It is just too convenient for me not to, less than a two minute drive from my house. The store itself used to be a bit grungy and had a "discount store" sort of vibe. "Used to" being the operative words of that sentence. A fairly recent remodel and grand reopening has done wonders for this store. It is much cleaner and nicer and easier to negotiate your way around the aisles. Product placement makes more sense now too. They added to the deli with hot rotisserie chicken, fresh cut cheeses and meats, etc. They have a much improved selection of groceries as well. If you're looking for something too out of the ordinary, you probably won't find it here, but still a great variety. (Pretzel buns for burgers and dogs would be a nice addition, hint...hint...) They boast a solid selection of ethnic foods also. They recently have introduced an entire produce section dedicated to all organic if that's your thing. There was a time that I was not overly impressed with their meat department and that has vastly improved also. Not Sprouts quality maybe, but great quality nonetheless and you're not paying Sprouts prices, or waiting in Sprouts lines or dealing with Mission Gorge Road. The prices at Food 4 Less are far better than any other grocery store I've been to. Beer is one of their best bargains. They have excellent hours of operation too, open early, close late. The staff is always friendly, helpful and quick at checkout - talking to you Vanessa, you too June and Hunter. That's just three, but they all deserve a shout out.

This is fairly large F4L. Big vegetable section. What I found surprising was their alcohol section. Anything hard liquor was locked up by the front. Found some limes here for a cocktail recipe we needed. Apparently this Santee store has been here since 1980 (a sign indoors said so). I didn't know this store chain has been around this long.

Today the produce didn't look as good as usual. I usually like Food 4 less better than other grocery stores in area. The advertised corn was awful looking. The bananas were really good. The broccoli looked horrible. Must be a bad day.

Do better - cleanliness is a big fat zero. I have not been to this store in a bit. I was disappointed with the overall filth- The manager is not managing, nor is the supervisor - For example - The check stands have built up food, crumbs, and dust that has not seen a good wipe in a very long time. Gross- if this is what check stands look like for the public to see I cannot imagine what the meat dept, deli, and bakery cleanliness or lack of behind-the-scenes - for all the employees there if you are ok working in those conditions I wonder what their houses look like- that's all rant over -

Bakery was not helpful. I needed to Christmas Cakes. I asked for writing on them. They wrote on the chocolate cake with ORANGE frosting and dripped water on the cake. No it didn't dry, it left marks. Ad they were writing in the 2nd cake with Orange frosting I caught it and they used RED. The chocolate cake will need repair.
Sad that they didn't think a Christmas cake would look like a Halloween cake with orange frosting.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bruno G.La Mesa, CA253820Aug 18, 2023
Not a good day for this store. It's 11a & only one line is open. 6 people in line, I guess I'll wait & write a review

This is one of my preferred grocery store as produce and Kroger brand items are very affordable compared to grocery stores like Vons. I like the location of this food 4 less because it's kind of off the beaten path from mission gorge road. Also the food 4 less is very large per usual, but it is kept a very clean and very organized which I really appreciate. They have good sales and good products.
It doesn't seem to be crowded anytime I've gone here even on the weekend before thanksgiving. they do a good job on having multiple cashiers open if it is supposedly busy so that the line can go faster. If you are looking for affordable produce and grocery items definitely come here.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0
