What can I say... It's Food Lion grocery store & a really big one at that!
It's the only big grocery store in town, lol, & this baby is enormous but this is where everyone goes to shop to stock their beach house.
On that note Saturdays and Sundays are always busier because that's when rentals begin and end so if you can avoid those days, the line won't be quite as bad for check out.
You can get everything here that you can find at any other grocery store and then some! They have a large selection of beach stuff too, which is a huge plus.
So go get all your food, toiletries, beach goodies, wine & beer, and any other necessities you may need to stock that house and then go get your butt on that beach, toes in the sand, drink in hand and have fun!Helpful 26Thanks 0Love this 30Oh no 0 - Debra O.Durham, NC113831May 3, 2024
We loved our experience. Harris teeter was empty but then we came here to fresh produce and full shelves! Prices were way better too

Went there to get a few things and told the lady I didn't need a bag and she said I wasn't going to put it in a bag anyways. Then told her I didn't get to put in my phone number for discounts and she got rude. Then didn't even tell to have a nice day or thank you. She was rude!!

Thank you so much for not charging exhorbitant prices and taking advantage of folks on vacation. Really it's refreshing to see a place that doesn't engage in such practices, especially in such an isolated location.

Very busy most mornings and afternoons. I did go one evening at about 7 pm and it was empty which was fabulous. They have a decent selection. The layout is a little strange but it serves its purpose. Prices are not too bad .

Came here a bunch during our weeklong vacation in Corolla.
If it can be avoided, come here on weekdays when the lines aren't as long.
They sell just about everything, which is great when the house you rented supplies you with basically nothing.
Their wine selection is actually amazing. And their beer selection is nothing to sneeze at.
The one thing I hated (that I noticed about most of the stores in OBX) was that their grocery bags HAVE NO HANDLES. It's the most annoying thing ever. Can someone in North Carolina invent handles please??Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 783951204Jul 28, 2018
What a chaotic store! It seems like everyone in the area is constantly at this grocery store. The aisles are way too small for the volume of people in the place.
Other than it being crazy packed all the time it was an average grocery store. The beer section was decent with lots of local options.
Make sure to go to the aisles for things as the end caps and front of the store are selling the higher priced items.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Troy S.Hilliard, OH84793633Jun 16, 2021
One tip: Do not come here on Saturday or Sunday evening. The place is packed and supplies are low. During the day during the week, the place was better for shopping. Prices are a little lowered here than Harris Teeter. Download a food lion card to your phone and get the deals.

Ok, I take it back from my original review. I saw the mobs this time and I have to say that it was irritating. The mob made grocery shopping a pain in the rear this time around. Luckily for us we only stopped to pick up a few items to do us over until the next day and we made our way back to the house.
Typical 24 hour grocery store. Get their version of their loyalty card and make sure to use it throughout the store as well as the coupon kiosk at the front of the store. Great selection of items you would expect to buy.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 1May 31, 2014Previous reviewYour typical 24 hour grocery store. Has everything you need and then some. Prices are okay, but not always the best, but being the closest store for many visitors, it's the best option.
After reading some reviews by other people I do agree that this isn't a Harris Teeter. But what I didn't see were the mobs. This store was never packed when I was there. Maybe it was the time of day I was there or maybe it was the time of the year I was there. I'm sure traffic picks up the later in the year as more people influx to the area.
Prices were decent enough to not want to run to the mainland to pick items up. So this store fulfills a need.
