I was happy to see the Golden corral was opening up a new location in a brand new building. The location that this replaced was quite raggedy and abused.
You would think that the employees would take pride in the new location in a brand new building. It seems like it's just the opposite, the level of apathy in this place transferred over from the old location and then it got even worse. The last time I was here which was the first time, I pointed out to the manager all the empty food bins and all the dried up crusty bins which should have been changed out or at least remedied . She was very young and didn't seem to care. They didn't address the issues. Now I come back and it's frankly worse. I'll attach some pics. 8:00 is not so late you should just forget about your product.
Golden corral, you had your second chance and you failed me so I won't be back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amy S.Orlando, FL1162193020080Aug 10, 2014
Yep, I'm reviewing a Golden Corral, and yep, I'm giving it 4 stars. Imagine that!
It is a Golden Corral, so there's nothing overly-exciting about their food, but it is plentiful! There is something here for everyone.
When we come here, I always get the same thing. I have the pot roast and the potatoes that are cooked with it. I also have a couple of their rolls with honey butter. Other than dessert, that's pretty much it... the end. Every now and then, I may try a bite or two of something else, but it's not very often. I love roast and I hate to cook... I also have ruined almost every roast I've ever tried to cook. So when I'm craving roast, this is where I come.
Love the chocolate fountain. I always finish my meal off with several of the strawberries dipped in the chocolate. I never have really cared for any of their other desserts; however, now they have these little "mini" desserts in cups and one of them is a strawberry shortcake.... it's actually really good. It's also the perfect size... just 3 or 4 bites. I also always leave with some cotton candy in my hand. They do not mind if you take it with you. Cotton candy is one of my weaknesses.
The servers here are all really friendly. Most of them do a great job at keeping drinks refilled and plates cleared.
The buffet is kept clean and food is kept replenished.
Even when they are extremely busy, they manage to keep the floors and tables clean. That's kind of surprising.
Here's a little tip: The dinner buffet starts at 4pm and the fee per person also goes up at 4pm. So, if you feel like eating dinner early, then get there around 3:50pm and you can pay the cheaper price and have the dinner buffet! :D
If you are traveling through Jacksonville and are on 295, this restaurant is just off 295. It's very easy to get off and then back on again.Helpful 31Thanks 0Love this 30Oh no 0 - John S.Jacksonville, FL268680517Aug 13, 2014
This is definitely one of the best Golden Corral's in Jacksonville. The food is always fresh, which is a huge plus at a buffet. Food is constantly cycled in and out of the buffet... This ensures you'll be eating the freshest, best tasting food that they have to offer.
The restaurant is kept very clean. The food bar is kept clean and orderly and there are always plenty of plates to get your food.
The staff here is friendly and helpful.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Oct 17, 2011Updated review
Had to update this restaurant by one star!
My son left for Army boot camp yesterday afternoon and wanted breakfast out as a treat before he left. His choice was Golden Corral's breakfast buffet. LOL He's almost 19 but loves buffet food as much as he loves the gourmet stuff.
We arrived Sunday morning just as they opened the doors at 7:30 a.m. Best time to go, in my opinion. The place was spotless (even the bathroom), the food was fresh and hot (of course, you have to consider that they just opened!). There were not many other patrons (a plus) so it wasn't crowded at all. An hour later though, it was filling up fast. The servers were on their toes and kept our drinks refilled and the dirty plates cleared.
What impressed me? Besides the large variety of freshly made breakfast foods, the grill was open if you wanted fresh grilled beef or pork steaks, you could watch a cook make you fresh pancakes & french toast, and there was a little hotplate off to the side near the salad section that had a cook was frying eggs to order (including omelets). Now that was a sight to see - two perfectly cooked over-medium eggs being flipped freehand into the air! LOL
Anyways, the salad bar was open (for breakfast? *shrugs*) and the dessert bar was open as well. My son, his girlfriend and my daughter all got very excited to see a chocolate fountain. They brought me back a chocolate covered strawberry and yes, it was good. LOL
We had a wonderful time, all in all, and I'm glad my son got a good breakfast before he shipped out. LOL We will definitely be coming back to this particular Golden Corral next time we want a buffet breakfast.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Mar 12, 2010Previous reviewHad dinner here last night and was disappointed. This particular Golden Corral is usually quite good, but all the food last night bordered on average. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Its hard to explain, to pin down. Everything was cooked appropriately and at the correct temperature, the place was clean (as clean as a packed buffet can be), etc., it just didn't "wow" us like it usually does. We left full, but unsatisfied.

Doesn't this place bring back memories! Being able to eat what you want to your hearts content, sign me up right!? Nothing in life better than diversity and thats just what Golden Corral brings that ''little kid vs. buffet" feeling each and every time. I went particularly on a busy sunday right after church so I wasnt expecting much this time around, but I can say on a customer service aspect, they definitely made an expectation to greet and speak to every customer, I named three times I was asked for a refill, even though every seat in the building was packed. but most importantly, HOW WAS THE FOOD?!
I gotta say, I love the diversity here, you of course have your soul food boiling down to cabbage, corn, cornbread, fried chicken, the works! but you also had your oriental dishes from egg rolls all the way down to pancit, definitely a lovely addition to the family of foods. My personal favorite this time around was the fried catfish, just perfectly cooked at the right temperature literally melted in my mouth, and that's rare to experience especially at a buffet. It's the little attention to detail that i love the most especially @ the steak bar, they definitely strive to meet individual needs, no matter the traffic. The only complaint that I have is the ambiance was rather loud from the early church goers getting their grub on and just randoms being loud, but I had to consider; its Normandy Blvd. no harm no foul.
I definitely would give this place a try to get that buffet fix for the year. 4/5Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Shaun N.Jacksonville, FL88200326Oct 10, 2015
I went here for lunch. It's your typical buffet. You'll see a wide variety of meat, veggies, bread, and a great salad bar. Lunch was only $8.99, so it's very affordable. The service was great. My waitress checked on me several times and my drink was never below half. Overall, it was a good experience.

For as long as I lived in Jacksonville, I had never been to Golden Corral until I went on Veterans Day. I drove over around the beginning of the event (6 pm-ish) and the line was almost into Sonic's driveway. I went home and then came back closer to 9 pm. I was able to get in with no problem. The wait staff, although tired, were still holding strong.
Golden Corral has a pretty good selection of food. They seem to cover as many different types of food as they can, from American to Chinese to Italian and more. I think they could do a bit more with the salad bar, but I'm sure that I'm one of the very few that goes directly to the salad bar at a buffet place.
It's not five-star dining, but it does the trick. I do plan to come back for breakfast at some point as I have heard good things.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 1, 2015
Go to another one. They moved to a new location and left their customer service in the old building. The big guy on the steak grill is so rude. He acts as if your doing him a favor. He was so deliberately rude to an elderly lady it shocked me. The food is ok for southern delights but when the employees are disgustingly rude it's hard to savor the flavor. To bring some light to it all, Tracy, our waitress was a sweet heart. Maybe she can teach That guy some tact. Never again. Well not if he's there.

This would be a 2.5 star review if that was an option. I was excited to try this brand new location since it looks impressive from the outside. The parking lot is huge and was pretty full when we arrived. Walking up there is a little buzz of excitement. I haven't been to a Golden Corral in years so it was a little confusing when you walk in for the first time. You get a tray and select your fountain drink, then pay the cashier before being released into the dining area to feed! Wasn't a huge deal but a sign or two would have been nice. Speaking of signs there were several on the doors putting patrons on notice how it's a family restaurant, appropriate clothing is required and foul language is prohibited, etc. That's a hint right there when management feels it's necessary as you enter the establishment.
So to the food--very nice and seemed to be refreshed quite frequently. Lots of meat options. Steaks cooked to order, fried chicken (which was fresh and piping hot!) meatloaf and pretty much a variety of other comfort foods. I didn't opt for the pizza since it looked like the kind I could hear up from my freezer. The salad options were very nice. The lettuce was crisp and fresh. I added tuna to mine and really enjoyed it. I know the food is well-maintained because I watched a cook check the temperatures of several items on the buffet and log the data. The staff were all very nice and did a good job. A word of caution though, the place gets very packed and lots of children were there. Some of the more popular food stations get inundated and busy so I t's tough to navigate the buffet area holding hot plates of food all the while dodging kids and adults!
Overall not bad. Good for people watching. Although I probably won't be back I'm glad I saw what a brand new Golden Corral looks like.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carla F.Pasadena, CA1087911May 6, 2008First to Review
I know that this is going to sound horrible, but I now know why there are so many fat people......and it is called the Golden Corral. Gosh Damn they have good food! It is buffet style and they have everything. Not a little good here, a little bad there, but every damn thing I have tried has been good. I have gained at least 10lbs from my three visits so far. They also have desserts!
