I am always so scared of the dentist, but let me tell you, this was my favorite place. I know you're only supposed to get a cleaning every 6 months, but can I go sooner?! The front desk was so friendly and Stephanie (the hygienist) was amazing. I had a root canal in the past that I had issues with and she spent so much time teaching me more about how to keep it healthy. The next day, my teeth felt SO clean. Really, she did a phenomenal job. And then there is Dr. Ku! He is great- really took time to teach me and did not make me feel rushed at all. He is very knowledgeable! The scariest thing for me is when I have a cavity and need numbing- I hardly even felt the shot and I didn't feel a thing throughout my procedure. His assistant, Dana, did a great job of making me feel relaxed when I felt the most anxious! This is my favorite dentist office. I highly recommend!

Oh oh. Something went awry. The first time I got the 'I can't ethically perform a less expensive procedure on you' I bit the bullet (pun intended??) and got a root canal and crown on a tooth that could have just been pulled. But then I went in for a regular cleaning (covered by insurance) and once again got the 'ethical' story. They said I needed a deep cleaning in some areas (which I totally believe), however, after paying for the root canal & crown I wasn't willing to fork out $500+ and asked for the regular cleaning till I could afford to come back. They told me it wasn't ethical to do less than what 'I needed' and I told them goodbye. Proceed with caution folks. Very disappointing

I believe our responsibility as dental providers is to help our patients achieve and maintain the highest standard of oral health possible. In our office all treatment recommended and performed are based upon the findings seen on our exams. Once a problem is discovered, we discuss the options of resolving the issue while achieving and maintaining optimal oral health. Extraction of a tooth maybe an option and if so is always presented and discussed. Because of our desire to maintain optimal oral health, the philosophy of our office is to attempt to preserve a tooth if we feel that it serves a vital function and there is a positive long term prognosis of the tooth if it is repaired. Should the patient deem that extraction is the only option then we would be happy to refer them to a provider that is comfortable removing the tooth. Rarely do we extract a tooth if it is salvageable and serves a function because of the future ramifications of having it removed.
On the philosophy of doing a lesser cleaning, it is correct that we as an office will not recommended more then what has been diagnosed and can not perform less then what is needed even if a lesser procedure is covered by a patients dental benefits. Unfortunately these rules are dictated by the Dental Board who's rules and regulations we practice under.
As a dental provider we fully understand that it can be expensive to maintain a high level of dental health. That is why we present our patents with multiple treatment options, perform procedures that help prevent future conditions from getting worse and more costly, and help where possible with keeping the cost at a manageable level for our patients. We also educate our patients on the importance of preventative care which will result in less expense for future dental care. We also attempt to be conservative with our treatment planning where it is appropriate. That philosophy is reflected in the multiple reviews that we have received from our patients.
At the end of the day, our desire is for each individual to be educated about their oral health, provide the highest standard of care, and teat our patients as individuals and not just a set of teeth. I understand that there are multiple providers in the Fort Wroth area along with a range of philosophies when it comes to dental care and our desire is that each individual finds a providers that best fits their dental needs. It is our desire that of dental patients feel that they are with the correct provider so if there is anything that I can do to clarify and potentially correct the situation please feel free to reach out to me.Feb 22, 2018Previous reviewI first visited this office yesterday after breaking a tooth the day before. They got me an appointment quickly and helped me push my HMO dental plan along to be sure I'd be covered.
The woman who took my x-rays was very nice and later helped talk me through my doubts of trying to save the tooth rather than to just pull it (my first thought!).
Dr Ku was very gentle and worked hard to alleviate my fears and keep me calm during a root canal - I even did it without the added cost of happy gas... and I'm a dental-weenie. I will have to go back 2 more times for follow-up and the crown, but I'm pretty ok with it.
I'm glad I chose Dr Ku after looking at his reviews! - Diana C.Boston, MA2975Jun 18, 2018
Dr. Ku and his staff have always been very professional and have always put my care and the care of my family as a priority. Dr. Ku is extremely detail oriented and his dental hygienist Stephanie is wonderful! My 9 year old always looks forward to going to the dentist because they have always gone above and beyond to make it fun and make her feel comfortable. When my 83 year-old mother had issues with her dentures, Dr. Ku immediately made time to see her although she is not a regular patient. He also provide her all of her options including cost effective options. I have been a patient of Dr. Ku's for over 14 years and can't image going to another dentist.
Also, I have never been offered a credit to write a positive review so I don't know what previous posts are referring to.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ines N.Fort Worth, TX080Sep 17, 2016
First of all, he gives his patients bill credits for writing positive reviews online.
Dr. Ku's office is the shady mechanic shop of dental offices. He told me that I had 7 cavities, and I've now confirmed with two other dentists (I've moved around quite a bit) that it was really just 3. In addition to completely making up 4 cavities, his office would call me every few weeks to ask when I would like to schedule an appointment to get those cavities filled. My bill was around $750 or so with insurance so I figured I'd be fine not getting them treated since the cost was so outrageous and the cavities weren't bothering me. I'm so glad that I'm getting treatment from another dentist!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I have previously responded to this review posted on Google. It is always sad when an business receives a negative review but instead of letting it angry us we choose to learn from it in hopes of trying to improve upon how we serve our patients. Based upon this review, we no longer compensate our patients for taking the time to leave us a review and have not done so for some time now. We understand that impression that others may think but our goal was not to influence the patients' types of reviews but to thank them for taking time to writing one for our office.
Regarding the diagnosed dental treatment needed, our office has a goal to be conservative in the treatment that we diagnose to be done as seen by other comments made on Yelp and other websites. The treatment recommended is solely based upon the dental findings seen on our radiographs and intraoral exam. We always review the treatment needed with our patients along with reviewing their digital x rays and intraoral pictures. The staff and doctors at our office try to spend to make sure that our patients not only understands the treatment needed but why the treatment is recommended. We also understand that there maybe differing thoughts on the treatment need so we are never offend when our patients seek a second opinion. It is actually encouraged with patients that may have some hesitation.
Regarding the cost and phone calls, it is our hopes to encourage our patients to get the recommended treatment done shortly after being diagnosed. Over the 20 plus years, I have seen work that was not done in a timely manner lead to more complicated procedures and additional cost, pain, and potential lose of tooth. Unfortunately pain is not always a diagnostic tool. Usually if a patient experiences pain the treatment has progressed to a level that make the tooth difficult to treat conservatively. As in some case, dental cost is set by the patients dental insurance. Unfortunately that is the patients personal dental benefits and not something that can be adjusted by our office.
At the end of the day, I believe that our office works hard to provide a great service with honesty and integrity as seen by the multiple other reviews that we have received. We will continue to work hard to learn from the reviews in hopes of providing the best service possible. - Kent M.Fort Worth, TX020Apr 27, 2018
After not going to the dentist for years, I originally made had an appointment at a chain dentist. The information I received at the chain dentist was very surface level and they could not complete the work at their location but had to send it to one of their satellite offices. A coworker had met with a Dentist in Dr. Hu's office and highly recommended her. She was not available, so I made the appointment with Dr. Hu himself. You will find the office staff extremely prompt, professional, courteous. All insurance paperwork was done in advance and there were no issues regarding billing.
Dr. Hu believes in only doing the work necessary (no upcharging) and he put me at ease. It is the first time ever that I had dental work (a root canal in my case) with no pain.
Highly recommend his office and Dr. Hu especially.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Miranda C.Fort Worth, TX5100Oct 15, 2015
We put off finding a dentist for a very long time. Finally it became an emergency and my insurance provider helped me find a dentist in my area that would take us on short notice. I called and the staff was very knowledgeable, telling me exactly what I needed to do in order to get in as quickly as possible.
I really wanted a woman dentist, but Dr. Ku was the one that made the most sense at the time. I was surprised and pleased to learn we would actually be seeing Dr. Klein, an awesome woman dentist! No offense to Dr. Ku, whom I have not met, I hear wonderful things about him, too. I'm just a weirdo that likes to give my money to women.
Dr. Klein, Cynthia and Stephanie have been awesome in helping me and my mate get through the initial processes after several decades of avoiding the dentist. The office staff is very helpful, as well. I have a fluctuating schedule and have had to change almost every appointment, which they do with no problems. (I don't know what they say when we hang up the phone, but they are always very nice to my face! haha)
Seeing as my last dentist was a 100 year old man in a small town when I was 10, I don't have a lot to judge them against, but I think they are wonderful and they deal with our dental anxieties like they actually care about our experience. I highly recommend this establishment!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erika C.Fort Worth, TX958660Dec 6, 2013First to Review
I am so glad I found Dr. Ku. I was in search for a dentist close to my employment for convenience and Dr. Ku was consistently highly rated on various sites for physicians. I keep up with all my medical routine appointments and never look forward to the semi-annual dental visit. I have had a lot of dentists because non have made any real impression on me and find them to be quite interchangeable. Not at all so with Dr. Ku, him and his staff give some of the best customer service I've come across in a clinical setting and they are consistent.
Obviously a brilliant dentist, yet he really takes the time to address your concerns despite the barrier patients have of explaining in medical terms.
Honestly, I am quite impressed with this practice. I have remained a patient for a couple of years and doubt I will ever be persuaded to find another dentist simply out of convenience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jared T.Fort Worth, TX626142Sep 29, 2015
What an amazing dentist and business. Every member of the staff for both dentists working there were top notch. The staff was friendly and professional and the work I had done on a broken tooth was quick, easy and affordable. They were already very knowledgeable about my insurance and I felt like every member of their employ treated me as a valued customer. So so so pleased. I've never had a dentist office handle everything so well.

Yes! I finally found my dentist in Fort Worth. Loooove this place. And let me give a shot out to Jennifer Harland the hygienist. I genuinely feel better about my dental care. She taught me more about dental care and preventive maintenance than anyone has ever took the time to do before. Great office environment and all the staff is exceptional. Let me tell you Dr Ku is conservative by dentist standards. You're not going to be up-charged or pressured to have unneeded dental work. Look no further this is Fort Worth's best dental team!
