Was strolling through the area and have been craving ramen for the last few weeks and ran into this place and was genuinely surprised on how much I enjoyed it. The restaurant staff was very attentive and friendly without being too much.
I ordered the Tonkotsu and overall the dish was very balanced with a good depth of flavor.
My girlfriend really enjoyed her Hakkaido miso ramen. I definitely recommend asking for their house made Chilli oil really added another layer of flavor to the ramen.
Overall a solid 7.5/10 for the food.
Time during opening was around sunset so the view and great weather added to a overall good experienceHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 20241 check-in
They had me at Ramen and Whiskey!
As soon as you walk up the stairs, you'll notice that the restaurant is very open, simple decor and but very stylish. I enjoyed sitting toward the outer area, near the rail. It's like having dinner on a lanai.
I had great, friendly service. I went with the Hapa G-Special Ramen - Rich pork belly and chicken broth. Topped with belly nuggets, pickled shiitake, spicy
sprouts, spinach, house chili crunch, nori, negi and marinated egg. This went down really easy after enjoying a couple of Old Fashioned - Old Granddad 114, Agostura bitters, demerara sugar, toscana cherry, and orange peel.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alan S.Berkeley, CA654998Nov 1, 2024
This is another one of those reviews based on being shut down at the door.
Can't comment on the food. But can say there was a sign out from saying "join us for dinner open 4:30-9 Monday-Saturday"
We showed up at 7:55 on a Thursday (Halloween in case yaht maybe matters) but were informed they were not seating anymore. Guess they decided to close early, which i am sure is appealing but not really great and should be accompanied by taking down your sign if you are tired and want to go home early right?
I think there also rules/expectations about being open during posted open hours so poor form overall i have to say.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 22, 2024
Place to go if you want really fiery spicy hot ramen.
Came here on a Wednesday during the farmers market. Long lines out the door for Bubba's Burgers, and other restaurants seemed to be packed. Walked up a steep stairwell to the second floor.
Open air seating , with us overlooking the courtyard below, surrounded by Merriman's , and Eating House 1849, and Leong's Market. Serenaded by singers down below, performing before the farmers market crowd.
We were seated as far as possible from the corner table of 5 adults and 4 children, and everyone arriving after us did the same.
Place was empty when we came at 515pm, except for the party of 9. Takes 14 minutes for our meals to arrive, after sitting down and checking out the menu, probably due to the table of 9 ordering before us.
Hapa Kauai ramen prices $28 to $33 are more expensive than the $20 ramen at Kimana Ramen in the new Koloa Village shopping mall 2 miles away, and the ramen is not as flavorful here, but it is loaded with more meat and vegetables.
Wife's $21 Ahi poke bowl came with onion, negi, ginger, poke sauce over white rice and greens with wakame. She ate everything except leaving a portion of the white rice, definitely enjoying her meal.
My $28 curry ramen came with a spicy curry broth, three thick pieces of pork, marinated egg, shiitake ,bok choy, over thin ramen noodles. The three pieces of pork were probably 50% fat, but very flavorful and not at all salty. The noodles tasted good, and helped soak up the spiciness of the broth.
Incidently, both the Ahi poke and curry ramen came in the same size bowl.
I left a small amount of the ramen for my wife to sample. She loved the noodles, egg and pork, but could not eat the broth alone, as it was too spicy .
The broth was definitely spicy, and oily, mixed in with hot chili sauce. I mixed the broth with the leftover rice from my wife's dish to tame it down. Waitress surprised that I ate it all, as probably one of the few people with an iron cast stomach to down that much fiery spicy hot soup.
Broth so oily it was probably flammable, and not allowed on airplanes.Helpful 20Thanks 9Love this 27Oh no 1 - Jul 4, 2024
Cheers to our first night in Kauai with dinner at Hapa Ramen and Whiskey Bar!
Made reservations to have dinner at Hapa, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so helpful and friendly. The restaurant is situated upstairs overlooking a cute little mall with lush plants and trees. Once seated, our server (can't remember his name) came over to take our cocktail order, and let me tell you the bartender working last night makes DELISH drinks. My husband ordered the old fashioned, and it was so good, he had 2. Sometimes when ordering an old fashioned they are either so strong you have to let the ice melt, and/or the booze is underwhelming. Not these though, they were perfectly made. I had the sunset margaritas, and they had the perfect amount of island juice to yummy tequila. As for our dinner...YUM! We obviously had ramen. Veggie ramen for me, and the Hapa G Special for my husband. We loved our dinner so much, we can't wait to go back!
The only little poo poo thing is that we ordered edamame, and they didn't have anymore. They offered a replacement appetizer, but we ordered more cocktails instead...lol!
Hit up Hapa Ramen, you will love it!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Luana G.Honolulu, HI01747Jul 10, 2024
We tried Hapa Ramen for the first time last Friday and absolutely loved it! This was honestly the best Tonkotsu i've ever had. Our server was a guy, can't remember his name but he was great! The poke nachos were pretty good, i thought the caviar topping was different but it tasted great. I have to convince my partner or family to go so that i can have that ramen again haha.
The interior was super cute, we had outside seating in a corner. they had these cool things on the table that could spin around which made passing out everyone's food/sharing the appetizers easier.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kurtis J.Etobicoke, Toronto, CanadaSep 6, 2024
Located in the Shops at Kukui'ula. Any time we're talking "Whiskey and Ramen,' I'm listening. We'd had the most polite server ever. The ramen was fresh.

Wow we LOVE this restaurant. The food is so good and the staff is amazing. It was so cool to meet the owner tonight. I got the miso ramen with chicken and it was exceptional. Kids got all three items on the kids menu and loved every bite. My husband got the curry ramen and loved it. We can't wait to go back! The ambiance is nice too. Very relaxing and delicious.

This was such a wonderful find near the Grand Hyatt and other resorts. It has plenty of parking, covered outdoor seating, and delicious ramen. It was edgy with a wide whiskey menu and the variety of the ramen was a nice change from the meat heavy options in the area. The bowl was huge but I wanted to eat every last bit (still ended up with leftovers though). The Japanese curry ramen was pretty flavorful and had plenty of veggies added in as well.
