This place hasn't been too fun or exciting anymore since they started enforcing the rules more. This place sucks now..!, I wanna go home. :,(

It as awful what he did , he was following the wrong person. God bless you'll and please watch over my stepson. Kesia Sissac we come from LA

This is an update to my original 2 star review because visiting has gone down hill, straight into the toilet. It's bad enough to visit at a prison where you have to follow a very particular set of rules, but to have staff that is downright disrespectful and takes pleasure in harassing visitors, takes things to a whole new level of shitty.
Be forewarned that the visiting officers that are currently working check-in can be aggressive and downright rude. The clothing rules seem to have changed all of a sudden and they are really cracking down on any little clothing issue that they deem unacceptable. I've been humiliated, as have others, by the gatehouse guards over what I have been wearing(which is ridiculous because I dress very conservatively). In my 16 years years of visiting at other facilities around the state, I have never had any issues.
Furthermore, there is one guard in particular who has zero public relations skills and literally screams at people when she gets flustered. "Higher management" doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about the abhorrent behavior and behaves in a similar, disrespectful fashion. When you're a public servant, you should not be treating free citizens like dirt.
On top of all that, they still cannot seem to figure out an acceptable check-in routine as now they are allowing people who have visited the week before to sign up for the following week in advance, which means that if you don`t make prison visiting your life and do not go every week, more than likely you will be far down on the list come your visiting day. Ridiculous.Helpful 7Thanks 1Love this 9Oh no 0May 3, 2019Previous reviewIt's a prison. Why two stars? Can you really give a prison stars? I felt like two stars was fair as giving any more than that would feel strange. It's prison and it sucks but my experience here, while frustrating at times, isn't the worst.
I frequent this prison for visiting a couple of times a month and my first piece of advice is: don't have to come visit anyone here. Tell them to behave. Easier said than done, right? If you absolutely must come here for visiting, read on.
On any given day, depending on your inmate's unit, there will be two visiting times(morning and afternoon). If you're local, you can only choose one or the other. If you're from out of town and making the effort to spend your day at a prison, you can visit all day if you show your ID that proves you're traveling hundreds of miles. Also, bring a utility bill that proves where you live(sometimes they care about that).
Some more friendly advice from someone who has seen a lot of visiting drama: 1. Make sure you know your inmate is at this facility 2. Make sure you know when your inmate's visiting day is(visiting is divided up by units. Check the DOC website or call for current visiting days and times) 3. Make sure you are approved and if it's your first time, bring that approval letter. Ain't nobody got time for a line being held up because they cannot find you in the system. 4. Please read the rules, that includes the dress code, before you leave your house for visiting. I have my outside clothes and then I have clothes I know are acceptable at the prison. Dress accordingly 5. Prison visiting vending machine food is expensive and it is highway robbery trying to feed your inmate(I would say loved one, but I don't know if you love them. I don't know your life). You cannot bring cash into the visiting room, but there is a change machine at the gatehouse where you can buy dollar coins. Also, sometimes it's broken so it's always safe to bring quarters with you beforehand.
There are some tips. Now onto how processing works because it can be a major PITA if you don't know what's going on.
Usually when you get to the prison during the processing time window(check the site for times and dates!), there are a bunch of people standing around outside or in a line. People who got there first are at the front of the line(makes sense, right?). Eventually you'll fill out the sign in sheet, which has your info about who you're here to see, their inmate number, what time you got there, and then you sign. That is your place in line and your inmate's name will be called in the order of the sign in sheet. Usually also floating around at the gatehouse desk, or among other visitors who decide to pass them out, are the consent to search forms. You'll fill that out to. You're giving them permission to search you so don't bring drugs or bombs or anything illegal. It just holds things up. So, after your inmate's name is called, you go up to the window and hand them your consent to search form you filled out and your ID. They pull the file, mark you down, return your ID to you, stamp your hand, give you a locker and key where you can stash your crap. Then you go into another room where there is another line(lines are the theme here). You'll wait to get called through the metal detector and a guard will check your hand stamp and you'll give them your ID and they will tell you which number your ID is on(remember that). Then you'll get frisked by a guard of your same sex and off you go, up the incline to the visiting room. When you get to the door, give it a hard tug so the guard knows you're there and buzzes you in. If you see your inmate waiting for you, don't go over to them yet or you'll get talked to. Go to the guard desk and tell them who you are there to see and your name and he will tell you which table number you're at(this is a large visiting room, so pay attention). Then you sit at your table with your inmate who is already there or you wait for them. One brief hug and kiss upon meeting and departing but you are able to hold hands throughout the visit. Get up and get that convict some food and do some emotional eating yourself because life is hard.
Enjoy your visit and remember, it's prison, not Disneyland. It is not the happiest place on earth.Aug 8, 2017Previous reviewIt's a prison. Why two stars? Can you really give a prison stars? Friendly staff. Quick check in. Check out took longer than expected but at least I got to hang out with my new friends while I waited. The beds are pretty comfortable, but the sheets were very stiff. There could be more amenities (larger towels and less jail stuff), but I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back.

Ok so i wasnt going to post anything, but this is a prison i totally get it i really do, but of the officers should remember that visitors are free people we are not inmates, i do understand the day to day dealing with prisons, i work at ccdc as a nurse, the thing is with SOME, not most of the guards, they forget who they are talking to, it would be different if i myself was rude, but again i am a nurse so i know how to be polite on a bad day, SOME of the officers forget that, some of the vistitors are rude and entitled i get that but not all of us are. I repect the job its not a easy one but when the officers are rude, it doesnt make it any easier for anyone. Its not a good feeling to be searched or even in this place, but I will continue to visit my family regardless if they believe they shouldnt get visits or not. They have a new person at the front shes very nice, perkins is her name shes always very nice, i appreciate that i really do

I get this hotel is supposed to be jail themed and all that, but seriously? It's absurd how over the top they went and I congratulate them on having such good actors but damn, at least give us a meal thats not actually bad just looks like prison food. Also, i had to shower with like 13 other dudes, and you could have at least lowed it by like 4 or 5. But that's not even the worst part, I had to share a room with like 39 other dudes, and let's just say the clapping noises they made weren't from their hands. My stay was horrible, would not recommend going back to this hotel ever again.

First I hope I NEVER have to go back to this prison to visit anyone again! The CO that checks you in at visitation has to be the rudest ever! I know that I have not been the only one that has had problems with her. There always seems to be a problem with dress code.. I wear what I wear to work as a casino shift supervisor. The process is just ridiculous and takes sometimes an hour from start to getting to actually see my so . This takes out of the visitation time. I have wrote to the warden and the last visit process seemed a little faster. The prison has been on lockdown for almost 2 weeks.. so that they can "move" inmates around.. the only reason for one star is it would not allow me to put NONE!!
