What a fantastic public course located just north of Des Moines metro. Tight fairways with beautiful backdrops and well maintained grounds.

Only downside amount of bugs/nats and no water on course.

Pro tip snag what cha smoking on way home for dinner/lunch

The girl manager there is not friendly or welcoming and there is a gun range next to it. posting this from last June possibly worst golf experience I've ever had been playing for 40 years.

      Bad greens and fairways also.

There's a shooting range next door. They don't want to mow so the course is really tight.

Difficult course but well kept fairways and greens for this late in the season. Would definitely make the 2 hour drive to golf here again.

Great course and very unique for the area. The course is well maintained. There are issues with the yardage, no GPS and the 200,150,100 markers are tough to find. Plus the yardage on the sprinkler heads is old and unreadable. We played on the hottest day of the summer, no water (drinking) on the course and no bev cart. With a couple of tweaks it could be a great spot.

Wow, so disappointed in a rain policy at Honey Creek Golf Course in Boone Ia. we paid for 18 holes of golf with no rain in the future til pm. Unfortunately rain showed up just as we were finished with 9 holes so we asked to get our other 9 holes refunded. Nope, all they offered was a gift cert worth 14 dollars that had to be used within 30 days. this course just lost 4 golfers that visit yearly. We drove 100 miles to be there and got the shaft. Funny thing is that if they had refunded us for the 9 holes we didn't get to play , we would have returned, paid for another 18 holes another day and purchased beverages. You've lost our business, and you lost the beverage money we would have spent in your club house today because of your greediness. Good bye Honey Creek !

This course is the definition of a hidden gem. When we first pulled up I wasn't sure what to think. The club seemed rather small and the facilities/amenities didn't blow me away. Once we started I realized why we came here. The front none was nice, providing a few challenging holes and nice scenery. The back nine is where it gets real. Massive elevation changes and spectacular scenery blow away the back nine. Simply breathtaking and much more than I expected from this place! Besides the facilities/amenities this course is truly one of a kind.
