I really wanted to give this 5 stars as I have been looking forward to coming here since it has been closed for a while and remodeled but my first impression with the hostesses was very disappointing to say the least. We arrived on Sunday at 11:30 for our brunch reservation and asked to sit outside and were told it was full and it would be a 25 minute wait. Really didn't want to sit inside but it was getting crowded so we said ok. My husband went outside and looked around and noticed a couple of empty tables and we went back to the hostess and asked if we could sit there and she said it would be a ten minute wait. Another hostess came to the stand and said she could seat us immediately? Not a great start but the patio is so beautiful and there was live music and our server was very attentive so things turned around.
We tried a few different things and everything was very good. Great burger for sure. Lots going here and seems like a great place to have a party
When leaving the restaurant, neither hostess acknowledged us. Need to work on that!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrew T.Long Beach, CAMar 8, 20251 check-in
The service was good, the food was marginal. My beef ribs were fatty and dry. The amount of bbq sauce was somewhat dry and it would have been nice to have had more sauce to add. The baked beans were watery.
Great place, drinks good-food marginalHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 20251 check-in
Beautiful place in Indio. We visited on a Saturday where they have a different lunch menu. More brunch oriented.
Decor reminds me of a ranch home in Montana or Texas.
Ok menu. Ok service. Typical prices. Nothing spectacular.
I'd like to return for a sporting event to watch on that 100" television.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Mar 22, 2025Updated review
Went at 1:45 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the first weekend in spring, intending to lunch on their beautiful patio. Surprised to find the place closed and locked. So much for our business!
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 14, 2023Previous reviewYay!!! This restaurant has been vacant too long... another Covid casualty. But, baby it's back!!
Jackalope Ranch re-opened today, 9/14, at 3pm. By 3:45, the place was bustling! People have been anxiously awaiting its return.
And, when you go, you won't be disappointed. The ambiance is warm and inviting. There was noise from lots of diners, but (despite all the stonework) it wasn't noisy and it was easy to carry on conversations.
Everything we ate was fabulous! Appetizer: calamari (fresh not frozen, lightly battered and nicely seasoned), dinner: hubby had the pulled pork and beans and LOVED IT!! I had the flat iron steak and baked potato. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert: indulged in a "Signature Sundae." Didn't need to, but happy we did.
The portions were really big: appetizer would've been enough for 4 people! It was so good and we didn't want to keep eating but we did. Oink!
Service was excellent. Brandon was very knowledgeable. The GM, Charlie, came by to say hello, as did Amber, a floor manager. We felt valued.
Currently, Jackalope is only open from 3p-10p, but they hope to add Sunday brunch, lunch, and maybe even breakfast soon. All the menu items listed as "coming soon," will be added within the next 7-10 days or so.
Only gripe: please put benches near the parking lot for me to sit on while hubby goes to get the car.
Well done, Jackalope! See you again soon! - Irieco C.La Quinta, CA310935Apr 6, 2025Updated review
JokeAlope Ranch. This place can't seem to get it together. Can anyone tell me why I CAN make a 6 pm reservation for 8, 9, 10, 12, 14 + people but I CAN'T make a reservation for 6. Even if you call. Does a magical table and staff appear at 8? Just wait till summer hits again. They'll be cryin for locals to come back. Plenty of other choices.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 30, 2020Previous reviewDefinitely has improved. Brunch was alright up until the pandemic. Don't know how they are going to do it from now on. Still one of the nicest settings in the area.
May 2, 2015Previous reviewThe only reason this place even gets 2 stars is because of the beautiful setting. I had not been here in a year, so I wanted to see if they ever got it together. Well the answer is a resounding NO! The service is some of the worst in the desert. The food is not too much better. Could be so great but alas it is not. I'm not even going to elaborate.

Stopped in on a busy Friday night, we had no wait for a party of 2. The view outside was amazing and service was great. Had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious, drinks were not strong.

Cockroaches welcome. Jackalope Ranch used to be one of our favorite places to eat in Coachella Valley. But that was under prior management. This visit we dined with at least 10 cockroaches... and several 1 1/2 inches long!
For dinner we had the pulled pork and the Mac N Cheese. Both were ok but we couldn't get past the rodents we kept seeing.
We were dining outside on the patio. That is the place to eat at Jackalope due to the landscaping. The roaches were all over the patio and kept coming up and down through the slats in the patio boards. Even though outside, due to the number, we couldn't help wonder if they were also inside ... and in the kitchen.
We asked to speak to the manager and she was very nonchalant about the issue. She said it had been brought to their attention before and they knew it was a problem. In fact, she said "Oh, believe me, I know how bad it is. I have to sweep and clean up out here". She said there was an infestation under the patio deck.
When we got home, we searched the internet. Something I wish we had done BEFORE we dined at Jackalope. Apparently they have been closed down twice by the Health Department in the last 13 months for cockroach infestations. And, unfortunately, what they've done to remedy the situation has NOT worked.
We asked the manager what she could do to compensate us for the issue. She offered 10% off the bill. We told her that was not enough. She came back with 25% off the bill and said she was going to have to explain that to Corporate. As if a lot of very large cockroaches was going to be hard to justify a customer compensation.
Will we return? No!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 21, 2019Previous reviewA hidden oasis in the desert! We visit the Palm Desert area several times a year and always make an effort to visit Jackalope Ranch, and on more than one occasion each visit! The restaurant sits back off Highway 111, on the north side of the road. If you are unfamiliar with the location it may be a bit hard to spot. But this just one of the things that makes this place so special! If you are heading east on Highway 111, right after you cross Jefferson Street, you will see Shields Date Shop on your right (south side). Jackalope Ranch is after that on the opposite side (north side) of the street, just turn left on Jackalope Trail. Once you do, you will find yourself on a beautifully landscaped drive headed to the restaurant.
In season, they have a wonderful Sunday Brunch in the dining room. The brunch has a prime rib carving station and plenty of buffet options for both breakfast and lunch. And it comes with bottomless champagne and mimosas! We also like sitting in the bar area for Sunday or Monday night football. They have a lot of big screen TVs and great food and drink specials on game days. We like the game day specials of chicken wings, potato skins, BBQ platter, and nachos. For beverages specials, we like their Bloody Mary's, Margarita's and the Jackalope Honey Blonde beer. They used to have a DJ who gave out raffle prizes during football commercial breaks and half times. Unfortunately, they do not do this anymore but it is still a great place to watch the games. Now for the outside patio area.... Absolutely beautiful! I've included a picture of the landscaping. They have an Early Bird Special from 4-6pm with a pre-fixe menu. The menu options change but everything we have had has always been good. The patio is a nice romantic spot for two while but also great for families due to an expansive lawn for kids to run and play.
We have never had an issue with the servers. They have always been attentive and friendly whether we've been in the dining room, bar area, or patio. With the variety of menus and options for seating, it is almost like three different restaurants under one roof. That is just one of the reasons we visit more than once when we are in the area! - Mike D.Madison, ALJan 14, 2025
Great food. And Service on a Tuesday nite.. Got a cushioned booth in bar lots of cushioned seats thru- out.! Extra fun it was line dancing on Tuesday night 5-9pm ...fun : almost got me up dancing!!

They don't have too many vegan options but at least they did have this Ranch Harvest bowl which was pretty good

We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. We asked to sit on the patio to enjoy the nice weather and music, but were told it was full or reserved--even though it was completely empty. Instead, we were seated in a booth right next to the kitchen, with no view and no vibe. We politely asked to be moved, and while they did eventually accommodate us, it took speaking to two different people and felt like we were putting them out.
The food itself was actually pretty good--the sandwich special was tasty, and we enjoyed our drinks and dessert. We were having a nice time, even danced a little, and were there for about an hour and a half. But when we returned to our table after dancing, the waitress told us we had to leave because they needed the table for a bigger party. It felt rushed and honestly a little disrespectful, especially since the hostess later told us there wasn't a time limit on tables.
Overall, this could have been a really lovely night, but it was clear the staff was more focused on turning over tables than making guests feel welcome. A real shame, especially for a special occasion.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
