La Vic's is a solid spot for asada nacho fries! It's a good munchie meal that hits the spot. I came at 9pm on a Monday night snd it was busy! I waited about 15 minutes for my order to-go. They give you a huge portion for the fries and I usually eat half. I save the rest for the air-fryer and it's still good! One thing I wish they added was some jalapeños, it felt like something was missing.
I'm used to going to the DTSJ location, but I think the Almaden spot is better. I found service to be better, cleaner establishment and my fries were crispier. I also like the horchata here, it's not bad. Also, I thought it was cool they seal their sauces here, so you don't worry about sauce spilling if doing to-go. Overall, I give La Vic's 3.5 stars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Adrian M.San Jose, CA22956Oct 28, 2024
Not sure what is happening at this place... but every time i stop by, the persona at the register seems to be unhappy. Not a warm welcoming (unfriendly attitude), unable to make suggestions nor any sense of urgency. If it wasn't because i was craving for Nachos, I would have walked away.
I asked for her name and she completely ignored me, I'm sure she saw this review coming.
According to the receipt, the person name is Mariela...
Any how, don't forget that without the consumer, you wont be able to collect a pay check, and the business can and will receive negative critics, not to mention the financial impact when this keeps repeating.
I Urge the restaurant manager to remind front liners the importance of a good customer service, and to be polite to every customer. It could make a difference for every one. And so is the Negative Ambiance.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sean B.Livermore, CA01230Oct 18, 2024
Date of Visit: October 12, 2024 (around 8:00 PM)
I recently visited La Victoria Taqueria at 5015 Almaden Expy, San Jose, CA, with high expectations based on past experiences. Unfortunately, the service and quality of the food have significantly declined.
I ordered three super veggie burritos, one regular burrito, one regular veggie burrito, and three bottles of orange sauce, spending nearly $80. However, the cashier was notably discourteous. When I politely requested a small cup of their signature orange sauce, I was abruptly pointed to a sign indicating a $0.49 charge per cup. The refusal to provide even a single additional sauce for my burritos was particularly frustrating, especially considering the high price point of the meal.
To make matters worse, the portion sizes were disappointing. The super veggie burrito, which used to be generously sized, was nearly indistinguishable from the regular burrito. In previous visits, a super burrito was so large that finishing it was a challenge. Now, however, they seem to be shortchanging customers on both quantity and quality while charging nearly $14 for a simple veggie burrito. This reduction in portion sizes, combined with rising prices, reflects a concerning shift in the management's priorities.
Additionally, while waiting, I witnessed another customer experiencing a serious issue. He had ordered burritos without guacamole due to his wife's avocado allergy, yet both burritos were mistakenly filled with guacamole. This oversight could have had severe consequences, and it underscores the lack of attention to detail and care at this location.
In summary, La Victoria Taqueria has lost the qualities that once made it a reliable option for a satisfying meal. The poor customer service, shrinking portion sizes, and price hikes make it difficult to justify returning. I strongly recommend avoiding this location, if not the chain altogether.
Very disappointed in what was once a favorite.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - randy t.Benicia, CA15426669Dec 31, 20241 check-in

I called in a phone order today at 1:30 p.m. the lady took my order and wouldn't give us an order number when we asked (we're regulars). We came to pick up our food with 10 people in line. Upon checking in, they could not find our order because we didn't have an order number. Showed the cashier that we called and ordered to this location.
Made us go to the back of the line and wait and re-order because we didn't have our paper list of food orders with us in line. We didn't think we'd have to re-order.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do better.
*** the women confirmed we were on a phone call. But that they didn't take the order because they couldn't hear our order.
On the phone call they confirmed every single item we ordered and asked us after every item "is that all"Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tina L.Palo Alto, CA303381030Sep 15, 2024
How in the world did La Vic get 2.6 stars? Are we real food critics or just got nada to say.
I'd say this is one of my top taqueria since residing in SJ. It's the orange sauce but not just the orange sauce! Get me.
Service is fast and punctual. Get you in and out. The gentlemen's running the show in the kitchen makes it all happen for their customers.
Portions are proportionate and they don't skimp a buck from your pocket. Love their horchata and Jamaica, so refreshing.
This morning we had the potato and ham breakfast burrito. Drenched it with orange and tomatillo sauce. I was happy and finished it before bae did. Pretty proud I had an appetite.
You've got indoor and outdoor seating. They're always playing music. Great breakfast, lunch and pit stop when you got them munchies.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Michael N.San Jose, CA10688139Jul 2, 2024
Nachos can't go wrong with jalapeño and cheese! It's a great combo with tacos or quesadillas.
Been going here for years and things have changed from the all amazing sauce or my tastes buds are different now.
Still tastes amazing regardless and a recommended place to go fulfill your taco cravings.
The line here gets long occasionally and the seating gets filled fast. they have this tall table like bar which is nice change vs your regular restaurant tables.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cory S.San Jose, CA46540Dec 14, 2024
For years now I keep giving them a second chance and I almost always get sick from the food. Order's almost always wrong and customer service is bottom tier. Today I got pretty sick after and I think it was finally the last straw.

I've been a regular to La Victoria establishments since going to college near one of the first locations in downtown San Jose. After moving around the bay, this location was the closest to my place of residence so naturally I visited this expecting the same thing across the board.
Let me preface this by saying I'm very simple when it comes to comfort Mexican food. La Victoria is mostly known for their orange sauce but the specific craving I have when deciding to dine at any La Victoria location is having a simple Regular Flour Quesadilla with salsa along with the aforementioned orange sauce.
The first couple of times I visited, they managed to add the salsa inside the quesadilla which is exactly how I wanted it. However after a few visits, I would specifically always mention I WANT the salsa included in the quesadilla. And I'm not sure why it always falls through and I end up with a $5 cheese quesadilla with no salsa inside. I thought the first time was a fluke. So a couple visits later, the cashier would reiterate "regular flour quesadilla with salsa" and then I would be disappointed again to only have cheese in the quesadilla.
There was one occasion where the cashier and staff made "chino" comments paired with laughter and scoffs thinking we don't understand Español (I understand enough). I'm just there to eat my food and go so that was also a huge disappointment.
I mainly ask for the bare minimum and I can't get it consistently met so it's been a disappointing experience dining at this location. The shop is clean and spacious to dine in, so it's got that going for them.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 102511171353Jun 19, 2024
Came by on a Tuesday evening around 9 PM with a group of friends after trivia night next-door at The Brit. We opted for a more filling burrito than the expensive food over there.
I ordered my burrito online and it was out quick. The store was empty and there was also seating outdoors. For bathrooms, you need to ask for a key at the front counter.
My burrito was tasty! I got a Carne Asada super burrito. When you ask for La Vic's orange sauce, it comes sealed when you take it to go. When you dine in, you can get the big orange bottle. The heat was addicting.
My friends got the quesadillas and carne asada fries.
Overall we were happy with the cleanliness and timeliness of our orders. My burrito wasn't as good the next day (lasted me two meals), but it hit the spot for my cravings.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
