This restaurant always does a nice job with their dishes and they have a busy take out/delivery business. They are by far the best deal around for Thai and they are extremely nice people. I usually order vegetarian or chicken dishes. Today I ordered chicken satay and they did a great job with tons of sauce and only $10!
The only issue I have is their spicy levels are epically spicy, beyond my tolerance, and most Thai restaurants will ask you for spiciness, and I always choose 6 except at this place. 6 will be hot in and hot out, and my delicate bits cannot take the fire. They default to no spiciness as a result.
Tip: if you usually order 5-6, order 2 or 3 here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 3, 2025
Very very good Thai good
Flavors were bold and on point and reminded us of our trips to Thailand.
The pad thai was a stand out for us as well as the papaya salad.
The flavor of the green curry and Tom Yum Goong soup was also very good, although we would have liked the sauces to be a bit thicker (both the curry and the soup). But flavors were great.
Also, on a spicy level they do 1-10. For us, we did 3 and 4 and it was pretty good. I would compare a 4 to a proper jalapeño popper. For the soup we did 6 and it was nice and had some seat to it. For us, anything over 6 would probably be too hot to enjoy -- but obviously to each their own spicy.
Service was friendly and quick and the restaurant is very casual, but clean and had a nice mix of customers as well.
This is now our "go-to" Thai spot in North County for sure!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 8, 20241 check-in
Meh. Having spent time and eaten much food in Thailand I was less than impressed with Lur Ros. They have a dining room decorated with the usual posters and Thai themed stuff, but it didn't really ring of authenticity.
We were seated by a very cheerful server, and ordered a Thai tea and Thai coffee, they were quite good, but the rest of our experience wasn't not up to par.
I love spicy food, like, VERY spicy food. So I wanted my Laarb at a level 8 spicy and the waitress kept trying to talk me down to a level 3-4 spicy after I stated a level 8 spicy.
Seriously, I can eat fire. I FINALLY convinced her of a level 8, but it took more time than it was worth. I also ordered the kee mao (level 8 spicy).
The hubby ordered egg rolls and Thai mixed vegetables. He is the not-spicy guy so our server had no issues with his level 3.
Our laarb and egg rolls came out pretty quickly, and we dug in. The Laarb was so salty it burned the back of my throat when I swallowed, I had three bites and gave up. It was like the cook added salt AND fish sauce. If I'd actually tried to eat it, I would have died from high blood pressure right there. The hubby's egg rolls weren't very hot and had an oddly doughy texture. But he ate them. I sent the Laarb back.
Our mains came out and they were good, but mine was not spicy enough at all. (Apparently my waitress doesn't think a middle-aged white lady understands what she's ordering). But apparently the cook LOVES onions. (Both my dish and the Hubby's were loaded with more onions than I've ever seen in an any dish of food anywhere.) So I asked for some red Thai chili flakes, and the server brought over some Sambal Olek sauce (which is Chinese: definitely not authentic). Not chili flakes, not even fresh Thai chilis in vinegar. Sigh...
Apparently the good people of Vista are just way too impressed with minimal mediocrity to realize how awful this place actually is. So sad!
I'm just not impressed enough with this place to ever return.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 2 - Patty L.Corona, CA111177692Dec 5, 2024
I was spending the weekend in Vista by myself and I needed a place to grab dinner. I was craving Tom Kah Kai soup and I saw Lur Ros had it on the menu and it was only 7min away from where I was staying.
I went on a Saturday night close to 5:30pm. It already had a lot of customers and pickup orders. The server was so sweet and friendly and I was happy the restaurant offered add-on noodles to go with my Tom Kah Kai. My order arrived pretty quickly and the soup was delicious. So much flavor! And the noodles came on the side so I could add it in bit by bit as I ate. As the evening progressed, the restaurant got busier but the staff knew their routine and there was no hustle or bustle, everyone patiently waited for their meals. I wished I lived closer so I could dine here more frequently.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Maia C.Alameda, CA0166Jan 17, 2025
My family is Thai and we believe this is the most authentic restaurant in the San Diego area. Great portions, service and ambiance. Our favorite dishes are the pad woonsen, kana moo krob, gai gra pao (chicken basil), mixed vegetables and pad see ew. Definitely a family favorite.

I love Thai food and since we were in the area with family we thought we would try this place. The parking is easy and when we arrived the place was almost empty, so we were able to be seated right away.
I thought I would order a Thai ice tea to drink, since it says ANY ICE Tea with YELP check in. Our waitress said no, it's only for plain regular ice tea. So we were served plain ice tea and proceeded to order 4 dishes plus egg rolls to start as our appetizer. The egg rolls were hot and crispy and pretty tasty. I asked for a refill on my ice tea, and our waitress said no more, no refill, unless we pay $5!! I thought that was weird, since I get free ice tea refills even at fast food places. We were the only diners in the restaurant at this time, and I thought why are they being so cheap and unfriendly??? The food came out and I felt the chicken in the dishes were dry and chewy and the shrimp were small and had no flavor. The service really bothered me and the rest of our group, because our waitress was very unfriendly, and never asked us if our food was ok. She had a bad attitude towards us as soon as we asked for the ice teas. I suggest they remove their offer if they are not going to honor the Yelp check in offer and suggest they hire nicer more friendly staff. We will not be coming back.Helpful 7Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oct 12, 2024
So we thought we would give this place a try. We had family from out of town and everyone loved thai food. We ordered four entrees and some egg rolls. They have a Yelp check in special for any thai iced tea. The owner came over and said only plain iced tea, eventhough the yelp check-in clearly stated any thai iced tea. Half way through the meal I asked for an ice tea refill. The owner came over and no refill that will be $5. Talk about cheap wow!!! We all could not believe it. So if they gave away a yelp check in coffee, it would only be one cup and no refills. So weird. It left a bad taste in our mouth. The food was just ok. The chicken was dry. The glass noodles with pork were ok. We definitely will not be returning and I'd advise to just take off the free thai iced tea, it's not what you advertise.

Food (5/5 stars):
Lur Ros Thai Kitchen is one of my new favorite Thai spots in North County! Their Pad Thai and Mussaman Curry were super flavorful and had a nice level of spice--I couldn't get enough. And their portions were so generous for the price. I highly recommend and am excited to try their other dishes!
Experience (5/5 stars):
* Price: very reasonable
* Wait Time: minimal on a Friday afternoon for a party of 2
* Service: very good and friendly
* Parking: there's a parking lot
* Ambiance: it's a nice, simple restaurantHelpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
