Main Lock Shop

Needing an urgent assist to remove an older style mortise lock and replace with a newer lock on the front door, I called a few local locksmiths. Christian was eager to help over the phone since he was short-staffed that day, inquired about details, and asked to see a few pictures without even asking about payment. After sending over the pics, he suggested to bring in the deadbolt lock re-keyed, to which I respectfully declined since I wanted to replace the old with the new with a different locksmith. He cautioned me that there are a few scammers out there who don't know what they are doing, but I took a chance with this different locksmith anyways.

TLDR; Christian is knowledgeable with great work ethics, and would recommend to others.

I called there today to have several keys made up & they told that they were open until 5:00 PM. I therefore left work early to be sure I was there before 5:00 pm. I called there when I was near their store & a recording said that they were open until 1:00 PM on the weekdays!! Why did they lie to me when I specifically asked for the time they were opened until & it's also posted on their website until 5:00 PM. I came here from Edgewater- drove 30 minutes to get here & now have to turn around & drive back, which will take me at least 45 minutes thru rush hour traffic. This is obviously not a reputable business & I would STAY AWAY from them. Would give less than 1 star if I could.

we have consistently received exceptional service from Mr. Gallo at main lock shop. This is our go to local business and they have been to our property a couple of times to address issues with our doors. We have an older house with temperamental doors and rather than replace them Mr. Gallo has worked with our existing doors and done so at a fair price. Highly highly recommend this business.

I was super happy with this company. Just moved to New York and called three locksmiths and Guy answered and said he could have someone here in an hour. I was so surprised and stressed it was not urgent. And this was a Sunday! And no extra fees! Jonathan was a great communicator and texted he was a little delayed due to street closures for the bike marathon but he made good time. They were extremely competitive and did a great job. Very knowledgeable. I would definitely use them again. Also they were very neat even with drilling.

I have been going to Main Lock for many years. I've probably been there 20 times or more. I have no complaints at all. Sometimes it gets a little busy and I've had to wait up to 10 minutes until it was my turn, but that's because they are good at what they do. An example of why to use them: Get a key copied at Walmart or somewhere else (where it isn't their main business) and it might or might not work when you try it. I never got a copy that didn't work from Main Lock. I just remembered something. A while ago I needed a skeleton key but I wasn't sure which one. They gave me about 5 to take home and try and sure enough 1 worked. I brought the others back. I don't know if they would do this for someone they didn't recognize but that's what they did for me. Someday small family businesses might not exist but until then I will choose one over a chain store every time.

After reading the two other reviews I'm not sure if I just got lucky the couple times I've been here, but I found the service to be fast and friendly. I came here on a Saturday to have a duplicate made for my motorcycle key. I've tried different Home Depots and Minute Key machines, and they were not able to duplicate my Suzuki key so I went to this place. It came out to $4.28 which seemed a little much but given I had no luck at other places it was a small price to pay for my peace of mind. The man I dealt with was extremely quick. I think I was in and out of the store in about 2 minutes. While I was paying the gentleman asked if I rode my motorcycle to the shop and he suggested I try it before leaving. Of course I did and the duplicate worked perfectly. He was friendly and professionally with me the whole time.

They made a remote car key for me a few months ago to replace the original. The replacement cracked recently so I took it back to show them the problem.They immediately replaced it with a new one, no charge, no questions asked. I highly recommend them for wonderful customer service
