Meal Village

I've ordered from Meal Village a couple times and had great experiences including ordering online which was very easy. Both times the food arrived EXACTLY at 4pm and was top quality with good portions for most. My dad recently needs to be on a lower sodium diet so it's nice to provide 1-2 meals per week for him with no commitment- he usually eats only half of the portion per meal and can easily know the sodium content.

My wife and I have tried a few of the meals and been happy with everything - sometimes calories and fat/sodium can be a bit higher than my wife prefers for a single meal but you have all the info before ordering. There's always a salmon option, and a recent "Retro Fried Chicken Bowl" was great if slightly unhealthier than ideal but had a nice portion of well cooked chicken and included a fantastic smothered sauce plus the side of applesauce was chunky, flavorful, and just as good as we would make at home. If you don't make your own applesauce this will show you why you should do it.

Nothing but positive so far, and prices generally seem consistent with the "ready to cook" options in the market but you have much less packaging waste and don't need to spend a bunch of time cooking and cleaning up which can be nice during the week. Most dishes are 2-3 minutes heating up in the microwave and end up great.

Don't get me wrong, we love to cook but I prefer to use my own recipes and for my dad with limited mobility a quick, healthier microwave meal or a "soft food" option is important. And for my wife and me, this is a nice supplement to our weeknight meals. Bravo to a great local business worth supporting!

Meal Village provides niche service and I am willing to to put up with most shortcomings by personally interacting with their management

I was definitely skeptical of trying another food delivery service. however after trying Meal village I am completely happy with my choice. it is easy to order if you order before 12:00 your food comes the same day if you order after it is the next day. the communication between them was quick easy. pricing for the meals I feel was very reasonable compared to what it cost to shop and then cook it. I will definitely be doing this a couple times a week I have enjoyed what I've tried and I highly recommend it

The Meal Village Staff Is Amazing .... Super Helpful And extremely Accommodating!!!

As someone who had 4 surgeries in 15 months, I needed a food service that is affordable, easy to prepare, and delicious. Meal Village checks all the boxes! The menu rotates so there is plenty of variety and every dish comes with directions on how to prepare or cook. Most warm meals are either 2 to 3 min in microwave or 10 to 12 minutes in the oven. The portion size is perfect. I usually can not eat 1 tray by myself. Sometimes, my husband and I can share 1 meal and both be full. The meals are cheaper than McDonald's and way more delicious. My nurse asked me about nutrition and cooking after all of my operations. When I described Meal Village, they were really impressed once they looked them up. You don't have to prepare any food, it comes directly to your doorstep, the price is right, and everything I have tried has been delicious! So glad I found them when I was looking for a meal service!

These people know how to cook! Their food is delicious. I have liked everything I've tried from them (but the Cod dish which was too fishy -- could have been an "off" piece because their food is really fresh) and husband thinks their food is great. We've used many meal services in Chicago, for long periods of time: "Cooked" (very good, moved on to something different so no longer available); "The Green Gourmet" (good, no longer available); Fittingly delicious (good), and then others not as good. All of them were still missing the consistently savory, more deeply dimensional dishes that Meal Village offers and none had the ability to economically choose individual dishes in the way that you can with Meal Village.

Since we had been ordering by the week from some services or month from Cooked (delivered weekly, charged monthly) before going to Meal Village, we're now paying more with Meal Village in delivery charges because they deliver daily. The same cost we paid for delivery charges for a month with Cooked (about $4.50) is the daily delivery cost for Meal Village. So, I am still not sure how long we can sustain this as a regular service, and as with almost all services, the amount of plastic used is not eco-friendly, but as a treat for super busy times in life, they're reasonable for the meals they provide. They're all really good. The customer service is really good too. Definitely worth having in your repertoire.

I particularly love any dish they have with cumin rice and roti, like the Chicken with Coconut Gravy and Cumin Rice with Roti. YUM. The potato and cauliflower dish, with same, is also excellent. My Italian husband, who could live on Spaghetti, thought their lasagna was superb and raved about their pecan pie. We've tried lots of meals. He's liked them all.

Super good, fresh, and well spiced food with lots of variety.

They also have breakfast foods and stuff for kids.

I've been usingl meal lVillage for am little over a month and I'm very happy with service, the meals are great always fresh great portions and variety. I also like the fact that they are local in Lisle Illinois and they do daily deliveries always on time and friendly
Anyone who gives this place a bad review is confused or sadly mistaken prices are great and where you need them to be to continue to use the service without breaking your bank. I am finally eating much healthier and seeing results.

Meals and meal selection - top notch. What doesn't work is the delivery service! We ordered when they had a promotional coupon and delivery arrived 2 hours late at 8pm. Todays order was 45 minutes late. I'll keep trying but late deliveries are upsetting.

I've only ordered from Meal Village once so far, but my husband and I really enjoyed it! We used their service after we had a baby and it is perfect for busy (and tired) days.

Everything we've tried (below) was delicious! My husband added hot sauce to the beef kabobs, but he adds hot sauce to nearly everything. The Chicken Fried Rice with Pineapple was a kids meal so it was simple, but it was good. The salads! I really liked both salads. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the veggies, meat and dressing are delicious.
