I was thinking about doing this with my family. My mom is over 60 and not fit for a strenuous activity. Will this be OK for her? What is the most challenging part of the tour? I have not done zip lining... is it taxing for the upper body?
A:
I don't think it's taxing for the upper body but the next day my arms were a little sore. The hardest part for me was pulling my legs up into a cannonball position to increase speed. There isn't too much hiking either, depending on the tour you… more

Is a lot of hiking/walking required? My husband has a minor ankle sprain, which we doesn't want to aggravate. Of course some walking is ok, but as long as we are not talking miles...
A:
There is not a lot of walking, but he would have to do some stairs And landing you can come down hard on your feet especially if you are not graceful like me!

The Zip Line is closed for now, according to the website. In theory, it was supposed to stay open year round, but it has struggled with staffing shortages for months as many businesses have across the country.
It's apparently suppose to reopen in April. I'm remiss for not posting about this sooner. Somehow, I thought I already wrote a review. Perhaps it's on the company's website. Anyway, I took the Skyrider tour at Hunter in the autumn with my daughter. I loved it and recommend it highly. No question that autumn is the best time to go. The foliage colors were stunning from up high.
The Skyrider zip line at Hunter is advertised as one of the longest in North America. There's also a mid-mountain tour, but I don't know anything about that one. I chose the Skyrider because I wanted to go big! I made the mistake of thinking I was riding across just one really long zip line, when in fact there are four zip lines in this tour. There's the super long one and three shorter ones to ride you down the mountain. So give yourselves enough time because it takes at least 3 and a half hours. Maybe longer.
To qualify, you have to weigh at least 115 lbs. I weigh a little more than that and so does my daughter, but we were still lightweights and were unable ride some of the zip lines to the very end. A staffer had to scamper up the zip line and tow us in for the last 20 feet or so. You don't have to be an athlete to ride a zip line. You're secured with a harness, cables and handlebars. We had a lot of seniors in our group. Some had difficulty walking, but they were fearless and heavy enough to really soar. Their weight provided them with a faster ride. Every last one of them reached the end.
You get a bit of instruction before you get sent out. The staff had hand held radios to communicate when the line was clear before they sent the next person across. I'm actually scared of heights, but I felt so safe with the staff and security measures that I wasn't frightened at all. Actually, the only time I was concerned was when we rode to the top of mountain to get to the zip line in a pick-up truck. The ride was so steep and there was a lot of swaying, but we were secured by seat belts.
We had a so much fun. We couldn't stick around afterwards, but if you're not in a hurry, your wristbands can earn you discounts at some of the local restaurants and the food is quite good.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie M.New York, NY871770Sep 8, 2022

This experience exceeded my girlfriend and I expectations. Ryan and Tony was professional, knowledgable, and extremely helpful. My girlfriend, who is extremely scared of heights, was encouraged and support by myself, Ryan, and Tony to face her fears and she succeeded. I'm proud of her. We look forward to our next tour.
P.S. the music during transport was enjoyable as well.

We did the sky rider tour and it was worth EVERY penny. It was so much fun. The other people that were in our group were hilarious. They use these open-backed army trucks (idk what kind of truck it was exactly) to give us a ride to the top. That was awsome lol. It builds the anticipation up to say the least lol. You'll see what I mean if you go LOL. The tour guide Luke and Tony were a great addition to the group. They set the tone for an extremely fun day. Very animated and make you feel comfortable right away. The two of them together were hilarious lol. We're definitely going back next year. Even with the leaves off of the trees, the views were beautiful. We would definitely recommend the Skyrider Tour.

I went here today for their SkyRider Tour, it was super fun! The staff was super nice and friendly! There were a few different zipline courses, one better than the other definitely recommend coming here if you love ziplines.

Such a great place for ziplining! Had Brent, Zack, and Luke as our instructors and they were such a fun bunch! They did great demonstrations, safety checks, and even had a few fun pranks that really made the experience.
Ziplining at their location was beautiful, especially during the fall, when you can zipline through the fall foliage.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiff F.Parlin, Parlin, NJ2108384Oct 24, 2022
Stated as the States' longest zipline course, this was very exhilarating. Instead of the regular snow during the winter months, everything is fall like with bright vibrant colors around you. There are 2 guides and sometimes maybe 3 that go up the mountain. Depending on which course you signed up for, the sky rider one or mid mountain, there's different experiences. We chose the sky high one. The guides strap on the safety gear for everyone and we're off to our destination by bus. At the top of the mountain, the 1st zipline is the hardest one. If you can get over that, they rest is easy. And this is the last time you're able to chicken out with a bus ride to go back. After ziplining through and you choose to quit, you have to walk down the mountain.
The view of ziplining was amazing. There's 5 ropes and 1 bridge you have to cross though. Afterwards a bus will take you down the mountains.
The mid mountains course: 5 lines going from easy to hard, as the last 5th line.
There's also discounts if you show the wristbands in town in select storesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
