This is one of our favorite restaurants. Food was always excellent but now that they have a full bar the place is fabulous!

Visiting family down here from Pittsburgh, excited to try a new spot! The start to our dining experience wasn't the best, as the hostess up front was rude to our party because she didn't know our reservation specifications. Told us to follow her, lead us in the restaurant and then she walked through the front door and left us. Thankfully we weren't going to let that sway our night. The server was AMAZING. I wish I could tell you her name but she did a fabulous job dealing with us. I like the vibe of the restaurant but it is small, I think it'd be cool to sit outside though. The food made up for everything though. I started with a Caesar salad and had the lasagna which is bigger than it looks- but oh my if I had the strength to finish it I would have because it was to die for. I made everyone else give reviews of their food and nobody was disappointed! 10/10 would come back again, hopefully the hostess is in a better mood.

The good part was, they didn't want to serve anything but appetizers because it was "Happy Hour." We insisted on their famous soup. They were reluctant at first but then they managed to find a small cup of the soup. The bad part of the story is they brought a dirty soup spoon. When we asked for a different spoon, they brought back the same dirty spoon only it was wiped with a tissue and still had signs of it being used before. Too bad for the management but the soup was good.

Went to San Marcos last night . As always food was fantastic brought out in a timely and efficiently manner. iIt was nice to see young people with such good work ethics and so polite . You can always tell a good restaurant by the staff they were taught to work as a team and they out did themselves.
For all the people in there it wasn't loud and noise like someplace.
I would highly recommend them .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - N M.New York, NYJul 30, 2024
I seriously do not get these great reviews...this was not our experience !
A few years ago we had a wonderful Italian meal here, although it was a different owner at the time.
We both got the prime rib w two sides. We were hungry and looking forward to it.
Both cooked to medium. Good portion size, that's about it. Both of our meats were very tough with a very odd consistency. The baked potato was not fresh it was hard and dry, the broccolini was also hard and dry.
This entire meal was a complete waste of our time and money
Perhaps other menu items are good, however the prime rib is NOT, they should not even offer this if they do not know how to cook it or if they're not buying a quality cut of beef.
We obviously would not recommend this restaurant since both meals in their entirety (meat & sides) were unacceptable to serve.
We did not complain & gave our server Hector a good tipHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 23, 2022
Think about it: It's the height of tourist season, and the restaurant is perfectly located on Venice island's main street. They can get away with high prices and -- sorry to say -- very average food.
The bread, certainly photo-worthy, was nothing special. Salads were .... salads! Again, nothing special. What I did like were San Marco's sauces. The lemon caper sauce on my chicken scallopini was very tasty. Everything else... merely okay. Thin cuts of chicken were tough, vegetables bland (particularly the string beans) and several of my potatoes were charred, I don't think intentionally.
My husband enjoyed the seafood on his risotto. (A real overload of rice.) And our friend was happy with her spinach and cheese-filled ravioli. Again -- the sauce was great.
Based on the website, there's house wine for $24 a bottle. Not when we were there! So we passed.
San Marco takes reservations. (Our friend who lives locally, said that's not typical of the area.) My favorite thing about the evening was the ambience of eating outside. Great people watching. However, that's not reason enough to return.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Roger M.Miami Beach, FLMay 11, 2024
We are in Venice FL visiting my wife's mother every month. We try a different restaurant each time. We went to San Marco before they remodeled and wanted to checkout the new look. Great job! The food was also great. Gnocchi with shrimp and vodka sauce was too big to finish but great! The Minestrone soup was nice! The lasagna was excellent.
Michelle was an awesome server that made the night! We'll be back!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - kathleen c.Nokomis, FL010Oct 28, 2024

Tried San Marco for the second time and unfortunately it was just as disappointing as the first time. The service was great, but the food is not even diner quality. The sauce had absolutely no flavor and the chicken parm was nothing more than very thin chicken pounded and smothered in wet bread crumbs. My wife had the carbonara and it was filled with mostly pancetta. I'm normally not one to complain, but I told the waitress it was one of the worst meals I have ever been served and the cook should be embarrassed to serve it, especially for what they are charging for it!! Needless to say, we won't be back for a third try!!

I hadn't been to San Marco in a while after a mediocre experience. I went to lunch there with a friend to try it again. My review is unchanged but for different reasons (was 2 stars last time also). It looks quite nice with the addition and the atmosphere was very good. The service also was very good. I ordered a salad with jumbo scallops and artichoke hearts. The salad ingredients were fresh but sparse. I had five pieces of scallops that were far from jumbo, in fact, I believe they were scallops that had been sliced horizontally to get two "scallops" from one. The scallops were well prepared, moist and tender. There just wasn't enough of them. The salad was a decent size, but not very large. The price was crazy for what was on my plate. I understand that prices have gone up. But $26.99 for a salad that barely had a few ounces of scallops? It will be a long while before I return again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the eggplant and artichoke appetizers. We both chose the flounder piccata entree. The food was excellent and it came with good focaccia bread. To me, the sign of a good restaurant is good bread! However, the service was incredibly, painfully slow. We arrived a little after 1:00 thinking this was plenty of time to get to a 2:00 appointment just down the street. Wrong. When we had not even ordered by 1:25, I called and pushed the time to 3:00 and still barely made it. We think the server we had was the only one covering inside and outside. We were seated outside and did not see any other servers. We left without our included desserts; we just couldn't wait for them any longer. Food was great, price was right, service was friendly, we just wish we had more of it.
