It's a shame that they are closing...hopefully not for long. They are in the process of finding a new location, but you have two more days to try this place out.
For a tiny place, their menu is pretty extensive. There is actually so much to choose from, I had such a hard time picking. Good thing I went with a large group so we were all able to share. I had the stuffed mushrooms and calamari as appetizers and the salmon and baked zitti as an entree...of course I shared with someone, promise. I also got to sample the penne with ricotta and hot sausage. All the food was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the pastas, super cheesy. I will say, the food left me full, but not bloated and stuffed to a point where I couldn't move. I didn't have room for dessert until they read me the menu.
Everything at this place is awesome and you can't go wrong no matter what you choose. I highly recommend coming here before the New Year!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kate L.Hillsdale, NJ462151Dec 28, 2009Updated review
I tried Rocky's again on a rainy December night. Looked like a mixture of neighborhood locals and a few Little Italy tourists. The service was good enough, the prices were very fair (I had forgotten how fair!)
I had a cosmo that was icy and delicious. Garlic bread again great but when asked for a side of sauce, $3 extra! (Slightly rediculous for a tiny bowl of sauce don't you think?) For entrees, I went with Rigatoni w/olive oil, garlic and broccolli but felt it was kinda tasteless and oily. Was hoping for more flavor. My BF had the Garlic Chicken, a 'house speciality' and thought it was good - it came with big slices of garlic. No decaf on hand, so instead I had a regular cappuccino served in a tall glass mug. Tiramisu served in a martini glass was good as well.
I agree with Dina F - "check your check" on the way out - they also charged 18% gratuity for 2 people. Too bad because we would have given 20-25% if it hadn't been added on.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Aug 20, 2009Previous reviewTiny, warm Italian place on the corner of Mulberry & Spring with all the smells of garlic, onions and tomatos that should emerge from a delicious restaurant like this. My favorite place in Little Italy. Try the garlic bread, its heavy comfort food but very scrumptious!

It's really a shame.
My husband had been here last about 7 years ago and had fond memories so we had dinner tonight. The food was good. It really is sad that we'll never go back.
The bill came and at the bottom of a hand-written diner like receipt we noticed a *20%* service charge. There was no sign, no notice in the menu, no mention of anything other than luckily noticing that the number seemed a little bloated. No one said a word, and when the credit card receipt came back, there was no mention of a previous tip and there was a line for another, like a regular receipt.
This is not the first time we've had a mandatory tip. We are great tippers, but normally find this practice quite presumptive. But always, always, there is notice on the menu, usually for larger groups, and rarely, if ever for 20%.
We called consumer affairs---this is not only dishonest, it is ILLEGAL. In the state of NY no business may charge a surcharge on any bill or item without express written notice to customers.
Avoid. Head down Mulberry--- maybe Amici II--- we've never had a bad experience there.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lisa L.Queens, NY618056Oct 1, 2011
On the corner of Spring St is a small, family-owned Italian restaurant. I decided to give my first visit because I've never actually eaten in the restaurant myself.
I went for lunch with my boyfriend. It was quiet, and the only people inside were us. There were only about 10 tables in the whole restaurant. So the service was quick and friendly.
The prices are a bit steep, but worth it for the entrees. I ordered the Cheese Ravioli while my boyfriend ordered the Garlic Chicken.
Although my Cheese Ravioli only had about 5 pieces, they filled me up so well when I finished them. So looks are deceiving!
My boyfriend's Garlic Chicken was much better though. Such juicy chicken pieces, and very tasty, roasted squash. I'm not a big fan of squash, but I would eat it Rocky's way.
Now here comes the "steep" part of the bill.
They automatically add 20% charge plus tip already to your bill. I did not read anywhere that they would add that (maybe I missed it), so make sure you really check your bill before you pay!
Otherwise, the entrees are very delicious. I just wouldn't come back so often when I know about the additional charges.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian D.New York, NY92114Apr 25, 2010
Stopped in with a friend this evening for an impromptu dinner. I was certainly impressed with the charming little eatery. The food reminded me of eating at a friends house for a Sunday dinner prepared by grandma. The garlic toast with Gorgonzola fondue is a requirement, the artichoke was great as well.
I didn't see it on the menu and I had a craving for it, so I requested shrimp oregenata, which was out of this world. My friend had linguine with white clam sauce which was extra tasty as well. The Italian cheesecake was so good I may never go back to NY style.
This is a great overall little restaurant and moderately priced to boot! Considering the neighborhood, it's a steal and can stand on it's own!! Bring a date, open up a bottle and enjoy, you won't be disappointed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dina F.Lower East Side, Manhattan, NY145352Nov 25, 2009
Rocky's is not fancy by any stretch of the imagination but the food is consistently good and moderately priced (in what's normally an expensive restaurant neighborhood).
I had a delicious penne special, with spicy sausage and ricotta while my friend adored her eggplant rollatini. The garlic bread/gorgonzola dip was wonderful as well, though very rich.
Service was friendly, though I was surprised to see gratuity added for a party of 2 - perhaps the server saw two women and assumed the worst? Either way, double check your bill before tipping to ensure that you're not inadvertently tipping more than you planned.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 30, 2009
Rocky's is a small, cozy place with the feeling of a family-owned and operated restaurant. Prices are a on the high side, but the pasta dishes are worth every penny. Stay away from the salads as they tend to be dry and bland.

Randomly popped in without checking reviews first. I was starving, it was cute and cozy looking, italian, homey, and plenty of available seating on a Tuesday eve at 5 PM.
The salad was colorful but boring tasting.
The garlic bread with gorgonzola fondue was finger licking good.
I had also asked for the salmon/spinach entree which never came. The waitress looked at me dumbfounded when I asked about it but said maybe about 10 minutes?
Then proceeds to bring me another salad and bread basket. HUH?
Fortunately I was doing reading for school while I was there so I wasn't hinging every second on my food coming.
The salmon was soft and tasty and ultimately ok with its lemony-buttery broth. Satisfied my salmon craving.
I'd go back there, and next time go for some actual italian food. Heh.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jane C.New York, NY6630Apr 29, 2010
What can I say about Rocky's on Spring & Mulberry. I have been living in Little Italy forever and have tried many restaurants over the years but this is one I will continue to visit as long possible.
The Eggplant Parmagiana is too die for, just like my mamma used to make it. Seafood Salad is always so fresh you can share or even make it a meal out of it
Not only is the food fantastic but the staff always greets you with a big smile when you walk in. It is a true hidden treasure.
Bon Appetto to everyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brooks B.Hayward, CA1240May 20, 2010
We wandered off to Little Italy and found this place through yelp. We ordered a Cheese Tortellini dish with a side of meatballs and Linguine with Broccoli, roasted garlic, and olive-oil sauce. The meatballs were just okay but the other two pasta dishes were pretty good. I especially enjoyed the sweet red sauce that came with the Tortellini.
The restaurant had a "make your own pasta dish" option, where you pick your own pasta and sauce.
I would come here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
