I am currently a new member at SDCCU (San Diego County Credit Union).
This credit union was recommended by my sister.
On my first day that I signed up I walked through the front entrance and Cindy was there at the front desk to greet me. Cindy was very professional and friendly towards me when I had spoken to her previously.
I had set up an appointment with Chris Garcia my personal banker at 10 a.m. sometime 3 weeks ago. Chris asked me to fill out the required paperwork I needed to apply for to become their member at this San Diego County Credit Union Branch in Oceanside, CA. After I filled out this paperwork, then Chris told me he needs to run a credit check on me. Chris needed to ask for my permission first before he would be authorized to run this credit history check on myself. I told Chris go ahead because I know that I have a really exceptional credit score. Chris went ahead and ran this credit history check on me and it only took him 10 minutes to complete this process. My credit score is 860. Chris said the standard credit score is from 645 to 735. Then Chris told me that my credit score is excellent. I said I know it is, LOL.
I signed up for a personal every day checking account with online banking that include electronic statements. Chris also printed off some temporary personal checks for me for my convenience. Then Chris said if I want to order a book of 80 checks I will have to order these personal checks from their www.sdccu.com website or I can come in person and ask one of their bank tellers and someone can order my personal checks for me. I said okay thank you.
To open up a personal every day checking account, someone has to deposit $25.00. A personal savings account is also $25.00. I opened up both a checking account and a savings account at this SDCCU Branch. Chris Garcia was very professional, knowledgeable, and he gave me excellent customer service during my meeting with him. I asked Chris how long has he been working for the San Diego County Credit Union? Chris said 6 years now.
And this location at the SDCCU has been in business for 6 years also.
I recommend signing up to become a member at this location. I had a good experience with Cindy and Chris. Even their bank tellers are also friendly.

Lupe has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Her tone and the way she talks down to customers is unacceptable.

I have been with SDCCU for 20 years and over the last year in a half I have had the worst experience. I heard a rumor they were bought out and it is showing over the last year! I am definitely getting out. They are impossible to contact and its pretty sketchy when you have all of your money somewhere for them not to answer!!
I use bill payers plus for my bills on a monthly basis. My car payment was remitted twice through the website. I understand it may have been user error, however, I have attempted to call SDCCU 4 times now and have been unsuccessful in reaching anyone. I opted for a callback on their automated system after waiting on hold for 25 minutes!!!! I did not recieve a call back for 3.5 hours!!! When I missed the call, I called back again and waited on the line for 50 minutes and still was not assisted.
I recently opened up an IRA account to rollover my 401k after my employer shut down the account. The rep I spoke with did not have me fulfill one of the pages and I was not notified to come sign the paperwork so the check could be received. I finally went in and they made me aware of the missing document. I did not receive a phone call or notice the check had arrived or that they were missing paperwork. It took 3 weeks for SDCCU to deposit the check and place the funds into my account. I went into the branch and was discussing potentially opening a CD to place the funds into and the manager offered to have a financial adviser reach out to me to discuss other possibilities with higher payouts. I agreed to hold off on the CD. This morning I logged into my account to discover the funds were transferred to CD and I had not received the promised call from any financial adviser.

The staff at the Oceanside location are very nice and efficient! A special thank you to Dan and Lupe who have been at this location for the past few years. Each time I have been there, they have been friendly and professional! The New Accounts team and the Management there are equally as nice and knowledgeable too! I have been a member for the past 30 years and thankful that they have convenient locations and excellent staff!

Service at the local branch is generally pretty good. My complaint is about online banking. I frequently am unable to connect and get the "try again later" message. At this time the system has been down for at least two days and when I called they suggested using a different search engine. This worked sometimes but the experience is frustrating. They need to upgrade their online banking technology.

I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time and gas to drive to this location. You might as well be talking to a computer as to engage the person who walks up and asks you what you need. I sat down and he handed me a piece of paper. no orientation, no questions, no offers no alternatives -- and this is why we are paying people minimum wage ---- because they are not worth even the minimum.

This location closes at 4 apparently to keep people safe from covid what a joke closing early does nothing for public health. Most people don't get off before 5 and to use covid as an excuse to close early is just laziness. Also their outdoor atm almost never works. Worst SDCCU location I've ever been.

The customer service here is the worst I have ever encountered. If you believe you can reach them by phone, you are mistaken. I have an account here I am transferring because I waste so much time trying to get to talk to someone. The only way to talk to a real person is to drive to the branch. Yes, MY time is worth something.
I sent a handwritten letter to them describing my frustration with their customer service. I got a letter back from them basically telling me I was wrong.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
