We had breakfast here today. I had three guests. It was really busy. The parking lot was almost full. They were promoting Eggs Benedict's. This looks like a popular neighborhood spot. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. Others had the Corned Beef Benedict. The portion size looks good. After tasting the food, we were disappointed that nothing tasted like home made. My Chicken and Waffle looked like frozen reheated food. Even the butter was in liquid for my Waffle. The Chicken was over cooked Chicken Fingers. The Coffee was really bad, very weak.
Other better options nearby.

Wow! Hellll-O Shakers! Sorry this is only the first time during your storied history that I've visited, but it WILL NOT be the last! Your vibe reminded me of the original Norm's we inhabit on occasion, so we thought we'd give you a try. We were VERY HAPPY we did!
I went with the salmon and chose pilaf over mashed or baked potato. It came out with veggies and MAN was it nice to finally eat at a restaurant that knows how to perfectly cook fresh veg and NOT drown them in butter. And the salmon was delicious as well. I'm not one for tartar sauce, but yours is REALLY GOOD! Not just relish in mayo like most places. And my choice of garlic flat bread or in-house baked zucchini bread?!? Def gotta go with that zucchini bread! And a generous serving at that!
Hubs was excited for pot roast and thoroughly enjoyed his meal. I liked that his veggies were traditional pot roast staples, peas, carrots and cubed potatoes and the gravy looked very yummy. He appreciated he could choose a baked potato over mashed. He went with the flat bread garlic, which seemed like a 1/4 slice of a pita, so not too big, but he doesn't care for zucchini, so he was happy.
I had enough room to answer the call of the baked in-house, and apparently "signature", carrot cake that was ringing my line. Yum! Moist and fresh and a perfect amount of icing.
Gina is a workhorse and a lovely team member. Made us feel like we were dining regulars. Many booths around us did seem to be just that. Couples, families, friends of all ages seem to fill this restaurant.
Shakers was a delightful surprise! We really dug the Mid Century Modern interior and your shout out to NCR technology - a retired cash register gleaming in the spotlight!
Thanks for a great meal and delightful dining experience. We just may see you again tomorrow, but if not then, soon. We'll be back. Cheers! "CC"Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2025
Haven't dined in at Shakers yet but I've DoorDashed twice. I have tried their baja bite fish tacos and pot roast melt. You get to choose a side for free (or additional $1 if you want sweet potato fries) Everything was packaged nicely.
Pot Roast: beef was tender, sourdough was crispy. It was a simple but good sandwich.
Fish tacos with a side of fries: I was surprised that the fries came seasoned, that was a nice touch. The fish tacos were good too but weren't the best.
Overall, Shakers has good comfort food that doesn't break the bank. They have an expansive menu to suit everyone's different tastes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Baron Von Zipper Z.South Pasadena, CAApr 29, 2025
Good food at decent prices. Good ambience too and quick enough service without being too quick.

I would say Shakers is one of my favorite diners in Pasadena. I know there are not many, but this is definitely a stand out and in the top two best. Russell's being the other. It's a true LA diner in the best sense of the word and is designed like the classic diner in LA with Googie architecture and a very retro vibe. I have zero reasons to give it less than 5/5 because we truly had a great brunch. I love the design on the inside, it has tons of different seating options and I appreciated how they have two person booths. Our server was extremely polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for our 10:30 AM Sunday brunch. They also have a giant free parking lot attached in the back so parking is very easy and plentiful.
They have a giant menu that is filled with all sorts of diner classics. For my first visit, I chose the Strawberry Lemonade and was very happy that I ordered it. It's just like the type that you ordered at Disneyland; it's a regular lemonade with strawberry purée added. Best part is unlimited refills. For my meal, I chose the Country Benedict, which is turkey sausage on buttermilk biscuits with gravy on top. It was very filling and very delicious and I would definitely recommend to anyone stopping in for brunch. Overall, we had a great meal and I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 27, 2024Updated review
It's a long time I haven't been to Shakers I remember the food was really good. My wife was telling me the food is really she often go to Shaker with her co workers for lunch. Now my wife and I going to Shakers for early dinner. The restaurant looks the same but it hasn't changed since I was here.
We step in the restaurant and right away we got seated and the host hand us the menu and waitess came to order our drinks. Then we look at the menu and see what to order my wife decided to get the Shaker Delight burger with Sweet potato fries. I decided to get the California club with fruit cup.
We got to watch the open ceremony of the world series with the tribute to Fernando Valenzuela it was nice and the waitess brought us our meal. My California club look so good then I took bite it was really good I can taste the avocado, bacon, turkey and toasted wheat bread combine together wow so much flavors including the mayo so good with avocado have that creamy taste it's mind blowing .
The fruit cup I decided to get instead of the fries was a better choice a healthy choice. My wife enjoy her Shakers Delight burger she great flavors she love. But she love the sweet potato fries that a dipping sauce that is so addicted the flavors was good. The staff were very friendly including our waitess she kind and friendly.Helpful 7Thanks 2Love this 8Oh no 0Dec 14, 2014Previous reviewAfter arriving home from work and waiting for my wife we decide to go out and eat at a nearby restaurant. I looked at my Yelp and saw a restaurant that will intrigued us this time. This restaurant was intrigued me it very close to Gus's BBQ and the Canoe House it's called Shakers it's sister restaurant is the Diner on Main in Alhambra.
Shakers is a Cozy diner like the Diner on Main but compare to both restaurants both of them have different menu and different style of food. But the Diner on Main have a full bar. The restaurant is very nice and they decorate the restaurant for christmas. We got seated and look at the menu to see what to order. I order the Monte Cristo sandwich and my wife order the three sliders meal. Both Meal Comes your choice of soup and salad I got the New England clams chowder and my wife got the side salad.
The waiter brought us our soup and side salad. The New England clams chowder have good taste and also have soft valet taste. The clams were good but little bit of the fishy after tasted but overall the soup was amazing. We got our food it looks very good but the is whole different story I have eaten Monte Cristo from other restaurants they were very delicious and lot of flavors.
This Monte Cristo was giving mix messages on my taste buds. First the French toast was bland it didn't have enough flavor just little bit power sugar on top. But the turkey and ham with swiss cheese was really good with those combination when you grilled them on the grill but a nice spead of thousands island it add so much flavor. Including the Monte Cristo it comes two packs of jam. In other Monte Cristo I have eaten it comes with home made jam or the jam is bin the sandwich. My wife enjoy her sliders very good.
Overall Shakers it nice restaurant but is good they need to improve their Monte Cristo or reconstruct to build a better Monte Cristo. . - Feb 17, 2025
It was my first time eating at this little diner and I had a good experience. The waiter and the host were friendly and always with a smile. The ambiance was busy because I went there around 9 to 11 so a lot of people were having their breakfast but the diner is huge. And they also have outdoor patio. The parking lot is also huge so you will for sure find parking. The food was amazing I will for sure come back for the banana nut Belgian waffles they were so fluffy and moist. I am going to try the strawberry waffles next time.

Shakers is a classic diner spot serving comfort food with a cozy atmosphere. The amount of people coming through are testament to what a local gem it is. You can choose to eat inside, outside or at the counter. Service was quick for the volume of people and attentive.
The Blueberry pancakes are yummy. We also ordered the Meat Lovers Breakfast Skillet which was a very large portion size. I took half home. The potato's did not seemed twice baked though the menu mentions that. The bread was also a bit hard.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 2024
As a Southerner, I'd say this spot is Southern approved! This is a great option for a breakfast/brunch spot.
Inside is classic American diner vibes. There are lots of tables and seats, so even on a busy Sunday noon when I went, I was able to get seated pretty quickly.
I ordered the country fried steak with over easy eggs and hash-browns and it was great! Nothing was soggy and the food was nice and crispy. Also nothing was dry and the gravy wasn't too overpowering. Eggs were also cooked well and the yolk was still runny. Pretty solid and filling brunch. The prices are also on the cheaper side for the large portions you get.
The server serving my friend and I was pretty nice and accommodating. For parking, they do have a parking lot, but when I went it was full so I just parked on the a nearby street.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
