Omg...there nothing I can say but, you have to try the enchiladas. They are excellent. I love them. I have known this family for over 30 years and they are hardworking and generous and a staple to the community. Nixon wouldn't be thriving without Tavo Ranch.

The food is good enough. If you go in ask to be seated in Crystal's section, she is the best waitress in the place!! She makes for a great dining experience!!

First time at the taco ranch and I was greeted at the door with a hardy welcome and a pleasant smile. It's almost easy to miss the place. Though right across the street from the chicken processing plant.
The menu is small consisting of the standard burgers, sandwiches and salads, though the place does seem to specialize in the tex-mex flavor. In addition, the other choices consist of quesadillas, nachos, burritos, menudo, and of course tacos.
The nice waitress steers me to one of the specials which is the soft taco "meal deal". The other special was fried chicken. The specials change daily.
The soft tacos were on corn tortillas served open face with a sides of pinto beans and rice. I strongly recommend the homemade hot sauce due to the nice kick it gives the meal. Also, fresh ice tea. The desert is a small slice of pie which this time happens to be coconut. All in all, pretty good food and nice people.
The clientele seems to be mainly locals and oil field workers.
The only reason I don't give this place 4 stars is due to the chance of driving right by due to poor business advertising.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Larry H.Bastrop, TX080May 9, 2018

If you go by appearance, you might not stop. Your loss! We have passed this place many times and there are always cars out front. Today we stopped...and know next time to stop again! Hubs had the fajita tacos. They had no green salsa that he likes and they offered the red salsa. He said the meat was so flavorable he didn't even miss the green salsa! He loved the homemade tortillas. After reading the reviews, I can't wait to try the chicken! Now We can see why reviewers went out of their way to eat here.

While writing the story behind my Trans-Texas Bicycle Odyssey of 11JUN-08JUL2011, I am reliving it. Currently, I am pedaling through NixonTX and definitely had to stop for lunch at the Taco Ranch Cafe. What a delight! Not too expensive, incredibly welcome cold A-C, exceptionally friendly personnel, and, of course, incredibly delicious Tex-Mex food. Even though it was last year, I still remember how wonderful it was. I highly recommend it to anybody who feels like exploring East TX and need to re-energize.
