Good hospital but with plenty of its own issues! The check in process is absolutely idiotic! No winner several patients were later to their appointments despite getting there early! Process sucks! Many staff members not friendly at all.

We checked in here at the cardiology clinic. To do a routine check up on a pacemaker defibrillator.
According to the reports that the pacemaker transmits everything was good.
Armando and the team are always friendly and really listen to all concerns..Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 6, 2016Previous reviewUniversity of New Mexico hospital is great for medical care. The lazy employees at the check-in in the ER need to be replaced. They don't answer the phone until after 15 to 20 rings and they make you wait forever to get back to see your loved ones. I hope the hospital get some hard-working people soon.

This is a nightmare hospital that has cause permanent mental and physical damage to me. They should make a horror movie about this terrible place. It has completely ruined my quality of life. I have a diagnoses of multiple sclerosis and am treated as if I am making things up and am a complete inconvenience if i seek any care at all. I had major surgery here and despite several attempts for medical help from complications due to the surgery I was deserted by the surgical and post opp team. Mysurgery has now healed wrong and that has added to my physical issues. They also infiltrated an iv and would not fix it for 14 hours in the er. It went through my tendon, artery and vein and caused permanent damage. This is the worst hospital I have ever been to.

ER Review!! The worst of the worst I have ever seen. Please do NOT go to this ER. It's like a third world country experience. People are being treated in an overcrowded waiting area. Nurses walking around with bloody IV lines, (Bio Hazard) passing other patients. I received a call the next morning informing me that I was deadly sick, just to find out those labs in my record weren't belong to me. Please do not seek help here. Go to a different Hospital !!!!

Joe in icu rn at this hospital is a wonderful human !
We had a horrible experience with our daughter's health, however this facility has been more then respectful and has treated my family good in this trying time .
But rn Joe you are awsome! This facility is blessed to have folks like you working for it .

My parent is going on 6 months of various spread out appointments with different doctors for lung cancer, and still no staging diagnosis or treatment start date in sight. I'm sure she has gone from stage 2 to 3 or 4 by now. They probably stand to benefit financially from dragging it out.
We are looking at sending her out of state to undergo a process which would have consolidated the last six months into one office visit:

They instituted centralized check-in for all appointments. It is the biggest waste of time and money. The person who thought this would be a good idea to institute is a moron and needs to be fired.
I love the care I get an UNM, but trying to get to my appointment is a problem.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brannon R.Business Parkway/Academy Acres, Albuquerque, NM090May 16, 2024
They ticket their patients in the garage claiming you are an employee!! Then it's on you the patient to contest it and prove you aren't! I'll be moving my healthcare to Lovelace! Don't want to fight this everytime I go to the doctor!!!

Imagine this: You are checking in for a doctor's appointment on the UNMH campus and feeling light-headed. Both your pulse and diastolic blood pressure are 53. You go to put your head on your knees and the next thing you know, you are on a gurney being transported to the UNMH Emergency Department with a paramedic yelling for all to hear that you are uncooperative, had a pseudo (fake) seizure and he is preventing your significant other who is the agent for your advance directive from accompanying you when you are too sick to speak for yourself. Next, the EMT repeats his derogatory words to everyone at the ED, gets you in a hallway alone and berates you about drug use for 15 minutes although you are not a drug user. When your significant other finally gains access to the ED and the EMT sees him approaching, the EMT declares, "Speak of the Devil!" and runs off. This is what happened to me. I had passed out from a cardiac event. I was too sick to get up and leave and scared out of my wits. My HIPAA and Patient's Bill of Rights were violated. I was left with severe PTSD and needed serious meds for weeks after the event just so I could fall asleep without screaming. I complained to the patient advocate, the EMT's boss and the Director of the EMT department. All I got was yelled at again by the EMT's boss. I have not been on the UNMH campus since and never plan to again in the future.

Okay the actual hospital deserves a 1 star review. I spent 12 hours in the ER because there's not enough staff and about 15 homeless people were causing issues. One peed on the floor every hour, another got aggressive and was methed out and had the cops remove him. I mean it was a miserable 12 hours and deserved one star. However, the ER nurses we're awesome, professional and caring even amidst such stressful circumstances. They deserve five stars.
