Every single time I'm there I cannot BELIEVE the level of anger, offensiveness, and borderline aggression coming from the one front of house man. If this job wasn't union he would've been long gone, a fact he plays jump rope with. We are now unable to book the honeymoon flight we wanted because instead of admitting the error in his quick mental mouth, he screamed my fiancé out of the building, twice. When he did in fact have the proper forms. Off to the Meriden one I guess. Before us he also screamed out a guy for trying tap to pay which apparently wasn't working (how is he supposed to know that?). I can't imagine his coworkers can stand this all day everyday. One time, I finally watched a man give him his own medicine, and he said he'd CALL HIM IN FOR HARRASMENT. I believe his name is Marshall, he oughta be studied when talks of union reform come up. He is single handedly ruining this post office. He is unpleasant to every single patron in line, so you're already angry by the time he gets to you. If you have time drive to Meriden or North Haven, that's what we'll have to do now I guess. Some public service going on in Wallingford.
*Edit - if you came here feeling the same frustration do consider calling 860-263-2400 to report an ethics issue to the state*Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matt K.Wallingford, CT710371325Aug 10, 2023
Nestled in the heart of downtown Wallingford, our little post office, in all its unassuming splendor, stands as a testament to simplicity and represents the allure of a bygone era. When you walk through its doors, you're transported back in time, where lines meandered gently and decor exuded a sense of vintage nostalgia. The slow-paced atmosphere provides a gentle whisper from the past, a reminder that - amidst the chaos of the modern world - there still exists a few places where time can take its leisurely course.
The lines are not an inconvenience, but rather a sweet reminder of the unhurried pace of small-town life. In a world which forces us to sprint from one task to another, the long waits can serve as a gentle pause, encouraging reflection and appreciation for the grace in patience.
The decor has an endearing charm which transports us back to a time when things were less complicated. It's as if the walls themselves hold the wisdom of ages, a silent witness to the ebb and flow of life, inviting us to step into a space where simplicity is celebrated.
Amidst the quaint charm and sometimes excruciating pace, it's crucial to remember the USPS is not a business striving for growing profits and perfection. It is a noble institution, a public service which embraces its imperfections and wears them as badges of honor. It stands as one of the few remaining vestiges of a time when life was simpler, where the art of waiting was cherished, and human connection was paramount.
In a world that celebrates instant gratification and seamless transactions, the USPS in Wallingford rebels against these modern values, instead providing a sanctuary of serenity, partnered with a steady but manageable hustle and bustle of moving mail. It beckons us to slow down, savor the moments of anticipation, and recognize the profound beauty in embracing the passage of time. It is a place where patience is a virtue, and the simplest of tasks become an opportunity to connect with our surroundings and one another.
Five stars, not for its efficiency, but for its unwavering commitment to preserving the essence of a simpler era, dedicated and kind staff, and friendly atmosphere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 19, 2021
Just your average post office that sits on a corner of the main square in Wallingford. There may be another post office that serves this town, but my Yelp friend Jim C. would probably know those whereabouts. This is a typical government building with its stately facade and huge brick wall with the flag flowing in the wind. Although this post office lacked charm, it's rather large and it provides many services to its customers.
I checked out this p.o. on a recent trip to CT while visiting my hubby's family. It's in a convenient location and has a parking lot in the back but there was also a lot of foot traffic. Their hours are M-F 8-5 and Saturday 8-12. The supplies were stocked and there was a greeting card kiosk with a large selection of cards. Passport service is available as well. The clerks here are efficient enough but could be more personable, so the lines down go fairly quick. Why do most postal workers seem to be discontented with their job? They have nothing to write home about.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Sara P.CT, CT020Apr 2, 2024
Always not a great experience! Not sure why this post office appears to be struggling with customer service. It seems like workers do not want to be there and it spills out to the customers.

As others also noted, the clerks who work at this post office are NOT friendly, except for one or two. The worst is the guy named Marshall. He is just belligerent. His angry eyes glared at me with no response when I greeted him; he jumped on me when I asked a post-office type of question. He owes that to me as an employee, and of the taxpayer's funded job. Why is this guy ruining my day? If he had his way, I was afraid he would throw something at me! And I did not provoke him! What a horrible experience! I would add that, this is my second consistent experience with him. As a Wallingford resident, I try to use other town's post offices. Isn't that sad???

If you need to ship to Wallingford, CT, avoid going through the USPS at all costs. They routinely lose or misplace my packages and mail. They mark a package "delivered" and don't actually deliver for another 48 hours. They deliver ripped and opened parcels as if there is nothing wrong. They walk to the door with no package in hand, slap a "no one was home" sticker on your door while you watch them from your bay window, and walk away without actually making an effort to deliver the package. I can't speak for others, but my experiences with the Wallingford Postal Service over the last 30+ years have been abysmal.
That said, there are one or two relatively nice clerks at the desk most days, but you still have to bring a stinkin' cute toddler with you to coax a smile from anyone behind the counter. It's pretty much just a job to them, one that doesn't require manners, it would seem.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
