Booked this hotel because we were desperate. This area is close to the USCG training center and we were here for a graduation. The previous booking we made was made for the wrong date.
Rooms:
There are 2 full sized beds
Flat screen tv
Small stove 2 burners w/ pots and pans
Kitchen sink, dish rack, sponge, soap
Plates, glasses, mugs
Hot water kettle
Microwave
Full sized fridge
Small round table with 4 chairs
Air conditioner
Toaster
1 nightstand
1 dresser with 3 drawers
Small wall shelf with a rack to hang clothes
Fire detector and extinguisher in the room
Rooms have 3 windows. One large one facing the pool. One frosted one in the bathroom and one frosted window over one of the beds. It's a weird view...
Cons:
There's a door connecting to the next room. Sure, it's locked. But there's no dead bolt on our side. Also no dead bolt or Slidey lock thingy on our room's front door. Not cool for us paranoid people. So feel free to stack the chairs and tables against the doors. Maybe you can stack a pot or two also. You know - to hear if intruders are coming in. Lol. Sorry but not sorry.
Bathroom:
4 mini bars of soap
4 small conditioning shampoos
Side note : the bathroom makes a 90° angle in the main room and there are 2 doors leading to the bathroom at that same corner. Just a weird set up
Area:
This is a SUPER touristy area. We drove by, about 7:30pm, a local business. I think it was a brewery. People were lined up like they were waiting to watch a concert. A local mini golf place had literally hundreds of people. This is walking distance to the beaches. Walmart, Five Guys, Taco Bell are a 10 minute drive. About a 15 minute drive to the USCG TRACEN.
We didn't get to use the pool because the pool is off limits at 8pm and we got here a little after 7. All rooms have a view of the pool so you could watch the kids in the pool from your room (each room also has 2 chairs outside) if they are comfortable with water safety. I noticed some floaties and pool noodles in the pool.
Beds were kinda comfy. Just a little confused when I went to draw the covers. I took off the top duvet. I thought there would be 2 sheets as I am accustomed to. But the bottom sheet was the covering to the mattress. They used a flat sheet instead of fitted. I liked the pillows. Not too fluffy.
I opted not to wash my hair because the water pressure wouldn't be enough to rinse it off. It's was slightly stronger pressure than a water fountain.
Music of any volume is not permitted in the rooms.
When we checked out in the morning they had a rolling cart with a dispenser of iced tea and of lemonade. A carafe of hot coffee and a platter of cookies for breakfast. I checked out at 7:45 and I dropped off some things in my car which was across the street. We started to leave and realized we left a phone charger in the room. We circled the block- went to the office and it had a sign saying they were closed and would be back at 9am. I couldn't hang around because I needed to be at the TRACEN at 8:30. I left a message and they never called me back. I was hoping that they'd contact me while I was still in Cape May because after graduation we would be driving past. But sadly for us - no. Rio Grande and Cape May are gorgeous places but probably would not be back to this hotel.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steve L.NJ, NJ051Aug 19, 2022
Stayed here for 5 days . Pretty Nice place, very quiet & clean. Staff are extremely respectful & helpful. AC went out night 3. Saw the manager at the pool & asked him to help. He removed the AC & placed a new one in within 30mins. Just great service. Amazing location . 7 min drive from wildwood boardwalk , pretty good breakfast options 1 min walk away. Very pleased with stay

This is a no for me. I stayed here based on "good" reviews, please don't be fooled. The room is dirty, it smells BAD. The beds are super uncomfortable, you will wake up with a sore body. The couch is filthy, we didn't dare sit on it or sleep on it. The first bedroom area is BRIGHT, you will not sleep past 6am when the sun rises. Also, the stove doesn't work, toaster doesn't work. They should remove that old rug and wash those filthy curtains. We were in room for 1 minute before we asked if we can be moved to another room and we were told flat out without even checking that there were no more rooms available. We sucked it up and stayed our 3 nights. But please beware the room is pretty gross.

Great location in Wildwood Crest very different then Wildwood. Dry town and family oriented with walking trail and closer to the beach. They're in the process of redoing the motel and own the one in front. Go and stay here they are very nice and keep it really clean. You won't regret it. Have fun!!!

Ugh! No thanks! Room looked like it was straight out of a scene from a prostitute sting set up, Dark, old, and dingy. The outlets didn't work, the air conditioner was high on the wall where you needed a chair to turn it on as it was set to 62 and stuck that way. No hooks in the bathroom nor any outlets. The shower was scolding hot regardless of the way you turned it. The sheet and blanket was so thin you froze to death. There was a table outside near the lobby with random items like marijuana kit, candy, Dunkin Donuts box, toys and it was scattered all over, weird and trashy. The lobby stunk like the huge bird they had in a cage. Gross place, save your $80 and sleep in your car.

We are sorry to hear about your experience while staying with us Jennifer. We fully understand that a 1950's era, Doo Wop style motel, is not for everyone, and just want to let you know that we take any feedback from our guests very seriously. We will be the first ones to admit that there can always be room for improvement, and are constantly listening to our guests to see where changes need to be made. The air conditioners you mentioned, which are harder to reach, are now equipped with remote controls, for example, and the big bird has been moved out of the office. We had a bus group at the motel celebrating the Wildwood's famous Irish Festival at the time of your stay, and the random items on the table outside the lobby you saw were the gag and party gifts the people from the group were giving each other. We wish that you had voiced any concerns during your stay, and we would have done everything in our power to try and resolve any problems. Short of that, we would have gladly refunded any unused portion of your reservation had you decided not to stay-no questions asked! Nevertheless, thank you for your stay Jennifer, and mostly thanks for voicing your concerns. We are listening, and wish that all of your future travels are happy ones.

I booked this room on my way down to Wildwood and asked for a 12:00am check in, willing to pay the night before also. I was appoved and told "ok!" on Booking.Com.... I then arrived at 12:00am and NO ONE was to be found, I knocked at the door, called the office etc. NO ANSWER! I then had to scramble to find a new room, at midnight.... I called both Viking Motel and Booking.com because I still had the charge on my card?! and asked why they charged me the FULL AMOUNT. $146.00 (not even a cancellation fee or anything the FULL Amount) even though I did not stay, due to them not being there. Total SCAM. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. I will be challenging the charge on my credit card!!

Been patronizing this location for many years with my family. As a kid this place was the best and remains the same low fare close to the beach location that I have loved for many years. The staff is mom and pops style with a family tradition of quality and deep friendship. The rooms aren't top of the line but the cleanliness is applauded. The cleaning crew comes late too so you can sleep in and enjoy your vacation in peace. I didn't turn on the tv but I heard my mom enjoying some shows while I was on a phone call. The pool is always clean and the staff is always out and about performing their rounds to ensure a clean, safe swimming area. This location is one WHOLE block away from the beach entrance. There's public tennis courts and a local library across the street as well as a delicious walk up or sit down diner. ATM also across the street. Wildwood Crest is a dry town so you have to walk, bike, run, or drive about 10 blocks to North Wildwood to get your swill. The local supermarket is the same distance so get all you can for the weekend in one shot prior to checking in. Also get a good parking spot and walk everywhere since the parking spots are more catered to compact than full sized. While the ice machine is a quarter a bucket I didn't mind the fee since I always had some change leftover from the boardwalk. In the mornings there are morning snacks and coffee for your enjoyment to start your day with some light carbs. The pool closes at 10pm and ensures everyone in the location gets a good night sleep without the partying yahoos. No WiFi is a small bust but you can scan the rooftop tanning area at night for a good local signal next door :) I needed to get a few songs downloaded for my morning run. What can you do right? I love the Viking. I plan on coming back. Book ahead and save some money. The vacation cycle is quick and harsh and if you're lucky you can get the top 3rd floor corner like I did with the best view of the area.
Would give another star for WiFi and more parking spaces.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hey Ceze, I know it's been a few years since you wrote this but since you took the time to leave such a good review, I wanted to reach out to thank you for it. You really covered all the bases here, and I sincerely appreciate all the details you brought up.
I also appreciate the constructive feedback you left at the end there, and I thought you might like to know that we now have free WiFi in all public areas of the motel. Hope that helps, and I hope we'll see you again soon!
Think maybe you'll be visiting Wildwood Crest again this summer? We'd love to see you!
Thanks again,
John, Property Manager
