News, News, News! All we hear on the daily basis are the morbid results of Covid--19 as we voluntarily shelter in place. One person you can count on to give you the straight talk is Dave Price. As I hear so many ask the governor lame questions that many of us know the answer to -- it is Dave-- who will dial up the question to let viewers know what is really behind the curtain. Although, Channel 5 WOI does better on stopping broadcast to let us hear the governor's daily briefing on Covid--19 -- as presented by Elias Johnson -- Dave of WHO-13-- still holds his own on as it relates to reliable news reporting. So if you want good, fair, unbiased news reporting, tune in to Dave Price of WHO--TV at 5PM or listen for his intuitive questions to the governor when called upon at the 11 AM news briefings on Covid 19.

While visiting my Aunt in Marshalltown this last few weeks and watching the evening news. I had to ask a few times what the newscaster was saying?? I am referring to Jannay Towne,I could not understand almost all of her newsworthy stories. She has terrible annunciation and her voice sound levels are horrible. Seems when she is speaking loud you can understand. But when she is chatting with other newscaster it is impossible to understand what she is saying!
From a Channel 13 avid listener..when in Iowa..

      Thankyou for letting me vent

This channels reception absolutely sucks, I get every single channel, plus 6 Newton channels, and can't get a single 13 channel for nothing.

I have always dug Channel 13 WHO. Remember those amazing Chopper 13 commercials, that sounded spooky! My friend Derek even got a chopper 13 tattoo and My band the Poison Control Center used to have this psychedelic freak out song called Chopper 13, all due to these commercials about reporting over Des Moines with a helicopter!

I got to see inside, behind the scenes yesterday as I was interviewed on TV. It was all high tech and cool and everyone in the building said hello to me as I sat in the waiting room to go on tv. Very nice group of people!

I loved the Law And Order poster of Sgt Benson staring me down as I waited for my 3 minutes of fame on tv! Yes I watch Law and Order all the time, only on HULU though, cause for some reason WHO does not come in very well at home from my crappy antenna. Probably just wear I live!

I do like how community oriented WHO is, you will always see them at the State Fair, or Art Festival doing stuff, or reporting from the Farmers Market. They do the weather at The Science Center and the meteorologist even do a Storm School for kids some afternoons there! That's pretty cool! I love Sound off, and even got on it once calling in after the super bowl! My other 30 seconds of fame!

Now if you would just bring back "CHOPPER 13" ..... in my best whisper voice!

Disappointed 13.2 weather has been replaced by gambling. 13.2 was our go to station for weather updates throughout the day. We counted on this access. Must be more money in gambling. Bad choice in my opinion.

Always go to WHO for news. COVID coverage is vital. I have a sister in an Iowa nursing home that kept COVID at bay until this weekend. Greater issue to me, as an advocate for people with disabilities is the obvious lack of media reporting about Glenwood, Woodward and group homes. This lack of information, from the governor, is the history in Iowa. The "out of sight, out of mind" attitude has been blatant discrimination in Iowa for years. //Sylvia Piper, Disability Advocacy Now

I got to say I love Channel 13 News the best out of all of them!! Very informative their articulate! I love Ed Wilson he's my favorite weather forecasters!!! Gerri Ann does a pretty good job too!! As well as any of the reporters! I want to thank all of them for keepin me in the loop, and will enjoy many years of there service!!!! I still say, as I have said before- I loved Ed when he had the space in his front teeth!!! It is a joy to see him especially when he is at the Fair!!!
