Fine Dining in a Casual, Family Friendly Atmosphere - CAN'T BEAT IT!
We've now been here on a dozen occasions. Initially, I thought our experience was a fluke. The food was much too good to be served in this casual, family friendly place.
When the youngins in the family come with us, they LOVE the wood oven pizza with its thin, slightly charred crust, fresh mozzarella and delicious sauce! What we've found most surprising is the really fine quality of the regular menu fare. The mussels are TO DIE FOR and the portion is definitely big enough to share. I'm not sure if it's on the regular menu (it should be - hint!) but the Broccoli Rabe, Sausage, and White Beans Soup is OUTRAGEOUSLY GREAT! This could be a meal in itself! The meatballs are really something special. Even the kids, who only loved nonna's meatballs, RAVE about these. Everyone can't close their mouths about their wings.
The pastas are all DELIZIOSO! The meat, shrimp and fish dishes - one is better than the other. All portions are very large but try to leave room for dessert, most especially for the zeppole, served hot and fresh. YUMMY!
The hostess and service staff are always friendly, helpful and attentive.
They have a great selection of beers, wines and wonderfully inventive mixed drinks. Don't miss out on these!
Wood & Fire as become our go to place, whether we are looking for a little bite, a full course meal, or some Great Drinks and munchies. Take the kids or leave 'em with the babysitter. Either way, you'll find it to be GREAT!

I stopped here one night with a friend while I was in town and thought the place was very nice. We sat outside and ordered our drinks and then ordered the pizza. I thought the bruschetta pizza was absolutely delicious and I just wanted to continue eating more and more. The Ala vodka pizza was kind of bland and I did not enjoy that. The drink was very good and I ended up getting a to go order for my boyfriends for the veggie pizza and that was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend that.

Stopped by wood and fire this afternoon for an early lunch. We've been several times and I always get the brook street pizza with no mozzarella cheese (I can't eat it) so I'm always excited for a thick crust pizza with lots of sauce, no moz, and pepperoni. It's so good! (I'm sure it is with the cheese too!). My bf usually switches it up and got the picante this time and said it was really good. We got a side of truffle fries and they were delicious. This time I also ordered the wood and fire brownie and it did not disappoint. It's easily enough for 2 people and it was so good with the brûlée bananas and gelato. I would definitely get it again.
The staff is nice and the inside is really cozy. They have an inclosed 'outdoor' area that I'm guessing is more open when it's warmer. They have a small parking lot in the front with some extra spots in the back. Looking forward to my next trip back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 4, 2024
Went with a group for a work dinner. The place is cool with indoor and outdoor dining. Parking is hard, very small lot but after I think 5 you can park in back lot which is little bigger. Also parking across the street near the park. Service was very good - food just ok. They have pizza in the name so ordered a Sicilian style pie with pepperoni and it was really average. Way too doughy and not a ton of flavor. Others got meals and seemed to be happy to maybe that's the way to go.

Food has been good in the past, unfortunately this time was not the same experience. I ordered through uber eats and my salmon came loaded with sauce that asked for on the side and it was all oily and inedible.
When I called the restaurant they said I had to contact ubereats but made no effort to help me at all . Really poor customer service considering I'm a long time customer.
The rest of the order was just fair.
Won't be returning after being treated this way.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Silvia E.Thornwood, NY051Dec 4, 2024
And let me just ask a question. You order from wood and fire and you pay a fucking fortune for some god damn broccoli rabe and it comes as stems? I felt like I was starring in Jack and the beanstalk while I was eating this horseshit. Disappointing. And maybe hire some people who can speak English at the pick up counter because she looked at me like I had 10 heads when I told her what I was picking up making me think I ordered it to the wrong location or something. Fuck outta hea

Is it my imagination or is the size of the pizza getting smaller? Maybe pizza shrinklation? Today I ordered a Roman pizza and paid $20. The pizza was so much smaller than the box. I would say by 25%. Businesses have got to stop this insanity. If a business can't make the money on the pie, then raise the price. But then don't raise the price and also shrink the pie!

The food is not that good. We had the calamari it was so chewy and soggy. We also had the gnocchi toscana. That was super salty. Everything is extremely overpriced. The menu isn't that magical either, nothing that would make you come back craving a certain dish. The ambiance is not that good either its so extremely loud it hurts your head. Won't be coming back. Also saw a mouse in the parking lot.
