Q:
If the show is listed as Music Hall, does that mean we have to go downstairs? I made a dinner reservation using Yelp, but I was planning to buy show tickets once we got there.
A:
Hey Pam - the Music Hall is our larger downstairs venue. Yelp Reservations are for the Lounge, which is our upstairs restaurant. You're welcome to dine in the Lounge before heading down to the Music Hall for the show.

I have tickets for a show March 8th. We are sitting in the Mezzazine. Are we able to order food from this spot?
A:
Yes! Full food & drink service is available on the mezzanine level. You'll be able to order from The Lounge menu and eat right at your seat.

We'll do this Philadelphia style: "You people aren't good enough to get me to put with Wharton!"
"WBCN discs are so much better than you are live."
"MP3's killed the music industry."
"Subscription pricing killed all hope."
"Mortgages are technically a subscription, you know."
"That's the Orwellian version of 'home ownership'. It's actually a form of rent-to-own with capital incentization."
My lyrics might not be as good as yours, but I do hear things.
Anyway, without MP3's, I wouldn't have known you from Adam.
Every time you produce a cassette, I'm going to pronounce it analog MP3.
My CD collection is quite adequate, thank you.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 341911249Jun 23, 2024Updated review
This is my 2nd time dining here and seeing a show downstairs afterwards. The food and service is wonderful, the eggplant fries and catfish and grits are my favorite.
They do get busy so if you're dining before a show book reservations 2 hours prior. They have wonderful shows, I've only seen groups that do tributes to famous performers, they are very good. However, there are other events. This tribute to 30 years of the "My Life" album of Mary J Blige was excellent. I love the easy parking outside using the MeterUp app and the facilities are nice and clean. Great venue I recommend if you like a nice evening in the city.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 14, 2024Previous reviewWhat an amazing experience at this place. We took my sister and Aunt out for their birthday celebration. It was 7 of us to accommodate and they did it well. The venue was very nice and cozy and clean.
Parking on the street with the meter was very easy. Parking was free after 8pm on the street. The Food was sooooooo good, appetizers and main dish. I had the grits and catfish and the chef totally rocked it. So good
Drinks were good, but a little weak on alcohol which I didn't mind because I don't like to taste the alcohol. There was a violinist playing during our dining in the lounge(make reservations if you ever go). You can stay for the show in the lounge, but we'd purchased tickets for the MLK Celebration Voices tribute to Motown music.
After dinner, we went downstairs (elevator available) to the concert. The seating was good. Get there early in case someone is in your seat, it's hard to get that straightened out when the lights go down and the show starts. There were people in our seats and others in their seats and the usher couldn't ask all people to get up while show going on. They made it right my adding more chairs down in front to accommodate us. As well as offered to refund my money for the inconvenience, which was so nice. Seating at the tables is what I will purchase next time I go. The show was lovely and there wasn't a bad seat in the venue. We had a great time and will definitely continue to look for events here and couple with dinner. It's a must see venue in the city, perfect for dates, birthdays or just if you want to go alone. I noticed some solo persons there. Support the Arts!! - Jun 22, 2024
World Cafe Live is a multifaceted music and event venue. On any given night there is an array of performances and people coming and going, which adds to the excitement. This night, my party and I were in the lounge for a jazz show. All of the staff and servers were pleasant and helpful. Especially when trying to get a table closer to the stage.
The chicken tinga nachos and broccoli fritters were delicious (and therefore not pictured, they went fast)! For drinks, the Mandarin sidecar was good but the smokey pineapple martini was better! I would not recommend the espresso martini here.
Finally, I tried the duck cheesesteak which was good. Messy, but good. There are other food options if you're looking for a knife and fork situation.
Street parking is abundant depending on when you arrive. Overall a solid venue.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 138513674842Nov 20, 2023Updated review
I have been to this venue before, having attended the Book of Love concert in 2016, and more recently, Wild Nothing. I didn't try the food though. In addition to the fantastic acoustics and top-notch service, the venue also boasts an impressive atmosphere that sets the mood for a memorable concert experience. The lighting design and stage are expertly crafted, enhancing the overall visual appeal of the performances. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that attendees have a comfortable and enjoyable time. Pretty close to the 30th Street Train Station too!

I'm not an audiophile and sound here is quite excellent for me. This place is quite spacious inside, and we were allowed to go down from the mezzanine. The bar in the show hall has a good selection of libation and food. There is no better place to see a live band in Philly. Classic and intimate!

My wife and I attended a Jazz show. The venue is awesome. Multiple locations for different performances. The food was delicious. The service was mediocre. There weren't many diners, yet out waitress was often MIA. I had to remind her a few times about the drinks we ordered. Overall it was a pleasant experience. We will definitely visit again.

My family and friends had the opportunity to have dinner at World Cafe Live on Friday the January 14th. The food was delicious
Four of us had the catfish and grits, others in the group had the angus burger, salmon and salad. All the entrees were delicious .
The service was amazing, timely and very professional.
We experience good musical entertainment as well.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 16, 2022
EXPERIENCE
My friends and I went to go see the Depths of Wikipedia Live, and it was a blast. The venue was full, and the crowd was lively and engaging. We were seated by an usher after scanning our tickets at the front and were seated at tables alongside other guests. The speakers weren't blaring as with other venues I've attended, and the atmosphere was just full of fun.
DRINKS
A range of drinks-- both alcoholic and non-alcoholic were available for purchase before and throughout the show. I ordered the spiked peach tea, and it was the perfect balance of sweet and fruity, though it was on the pricier side for the amount given.
SERVICE
The staff was kind and patient and very on top of the orders, considering the ratio of guests to staff. However, the waitress lost my friend's credit card when ringing up his bill, so that was an unfortunate incident.
PARKING / TRANSPORTATION
Street parking is available at a limited capacity. The venue is a 5-minute walk from 30th Street Station, which might be the preferred method of transportation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 254231583Jun 24, 2023
Definitely a night worth remembering! Hoping to return soon for live music and great vibes.

World Café live is still the best place to see a concert. Downstairs is a wonderful small intimate venue, with a balcony with comfortable couches. The sound quality is impeccable. I recently went to see Judith Hill. There was no food service during the show, which is very odd. You have to get food upstairs first. But the food is very good upstairs. I had a duck cheesesteak, which was a delicious sandwich that I haven't seen on any other restaurant menu. I started off with a tasty shrimp cocktail appetizer. I also tried the wings, which were just average. My drink was OK. They really need to bring back food service during the show. I would have at least had dessert and maybe another drink if I was eating downstairs.

Upstairs is a restaurant with a stage for lesser known acts to perform. Some of the tables are raised up for better sightlines. The sound quality is always outstanding. But the food is mediocre. Don't come to the restaurant just to have dinner. If you come for the music you will have a great time and you won't notice that the food needs improvement.
Downstairs is more of a traditional concert venue, for more well known acts, which can be set up in various ways. The show could be all table seating, all standing room only with only seats at the bar, or some mix of standing and seating. Any time there is table seating you can also order food. The sound quality is always perfect and you will generally have a good view of the action. For an extra fee you can sit in the balcony, which guarantees a good view and also has a separate area for eating and a separate bathroom. The food is mediocre, just like upstairs.
I can't give this place 5 stars because of the food. When it first opened, they had a contract with Tommy Gunns for Pulled Pork sandwiches, which were awesome. But when Tommy Gunns went out of business that was the end of awesome food at World Café. But I love going to concerts here. It's the best place in Philly to see a concert. Plus, the ticket prices are always reasonable in an era in which concert ticket prices are spiraling out of control. I hope that at some point someone will step up in the kitchen and make this place a true 5 star destination.
